There are still difficulties
In recent years, the trend of applying e-commerce in Lam Dong has clearly developed, especially in the agricultural sector. Many businesses and cooperatives have been sensitive to market trends, focusing on production according to high quality standards, combined with promoting sales through digital platforms. Through this channel, the products of businesses are consumed quickly, the market is wider. In particular, since applying digital platforms in production and business activities, many businesses have created high added value, narrowing the gap between producers and consumers at home and abroad.
According to many businesses in Lam Dong , previously, customers were mainly in the province. Since applying e-commerce, the products and services of businesses have reached customers at home and even abroad; revenue and market size have increased rapidly, bringing about clear results. This affirms that e-commerce is no longer a trend but has become a lever to help businesses optimize costs, expand markets, and improve competitiveness.
Mr. Le Huu Minh - Director of Binh Minh Coffee Company, Nam Gia Nghia Ward shared: "E-commerce is an effective communication channel and business tool for businesses. With only low cost, it will contribute greatly to promoting products and image for the company. Revenue and profit from that will also increase". According to Mr. Minh, in the past, because the products were not diverse, the company only used the internet to find information about customers and policies related to the business. The company's coffee transactions were mainly via email to communicate with domestic customers. Therefore, the number of customers and the market were also limited.
Despite the obvious benefits, in reality, most small businesses and production households in Lam Dong have not yet accessed and developed this modern trade channel. There are currently more than 31,000 businesses in the province, with a total registered capital of more than 320,000 billion VND. The whole province has more than 160,000 business households, with a registered capital of over 60,000 billion VND. Of these, about more than 45% of businesses and business households apply e-commerce channels in the production and business process.
In fact, currently, many businesses in Lam Dong are still trying to figure things out, their products are not well-designed, their images are not attractive, making them less competitive. The local workforce is mostly older and lacks digital skills. Once they have put their products on the market, they are confused about managing orders and coordinating shipping to customers on time and at reasonable costs.
Small businesses lack equipment, operating personnel and do not fully understand the benefits of e-commerce. Many businesses build websites but only provide information and do not know how to optimize operations to generate revenue. In addition, there are large differences in logistics costs, fear of change, traditional business practices and the ability to transform digitally among businesses...

Changing mindset from the business itself
The 1st Congress of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, identified digital transformation as one of the strategic breakthroughs for development. At the same time, the solution proposed is that digital transformation must strengthen the connection between the State, scientists , businesses and farmers. The work of registering, building and protecting intellectual property rights, and developing brands of typical products of the province's strengths will be promoted.
To realize this goal, e-commerce must become one of the important growth drivers. "E-commerce is the shortest tool to connect farmers and businesses with customers. This is also the bridge to bring businesses' products to the outside market in the fastest way," said Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Ba Ut. According to Mr. Ut, aiming to spread e-commerce, the Department of Industry and Trade is actively implementing synchronous solutions. In particular, the whole industry focuses on supporting training to improve e-commerce application capacity for businesses such as: organizing training courses, developing e-commerce human resources... The unit supports businesses in building websites, smart sales software, and online brand identity. Supporting livestream sales on platforms, participating in exhibitions in the digital environment to promote promotion will also be focused on by the functional sector.
However, in addition to the solutions of the functional sector, businesses themselves need to proactively change their mindset, considering e-commerce as a business channel equal to traditional channels. Businesses must focus on standardizing products, professionalizing their image, and investing in a specialized e-commerce department.

According to the representative of the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, the combination of manual skills and technology will create new value for products in the context of increasingly fierce competition. In addition, accelerating digital infrastructure, reducing logistics costs, linking e-commerce platforms with transportation units, digital finance, ensuring transaction security... will create trust and motivation for businesses to boldly expand their business in the digital environment.
By 2030, Lam Dong strives to have about 33,000 enterprises operating in stable production and business. The number of new jobs created annually is 50,000 - 60,000 people/year. The contribution of the private economic sector with an average growth rate of at least 11.5%/year.
