Need to control the Mongolian costumes flooding Sa Pa

Foreign costume rental shops are springing up more and more. The entire road leading to Cat Cat Tourist Area, Sa Pa town has nearly 20 costume rental shops. The rental price of a Tibetan or Thai costume... ranges from 150,000 VND to 400,000 VND/set, depending on the needs of tourists.

Along with that, makeup and hairdressing services to look like Mongolian and Tibetan women have also appeared to meet the needs of tourists. Most of the costume rental shops here, when inspected by the authorities, could not clearly identify the origin of these costumes.

Currently, on social networks, there have been many controversial opinions about the phenomenon of using Mongolian, Tibetan or Thai costumes... in Sa Pa. Moreover, when check-in images are flooding social networks with such costumes.

The proliferation of foreign clothing and its trend among young people has somewhat reduced the consumption of local brocade and long-standing traditional values.

To preserve the traditional cultural values ​​in the costumes of the Mong ethnic group, an ethnic group that accounts for over 50% of the population of Sa Pa, the People's Committee of Sa Pa town has prepared a dossier to propose the recognition of national intangible cultural heritage for the decorative art on the costumes of the Black Mong people of Sa Pa. Ms. Hoang Thi Vuong, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Sa Pa town, said: "In the coming time, Sa Pa town will step up propaganda work to tourists to introduce more traditional brocade products of Sa Pa ethnic groups and provide regulations, recommendations, and instructions for tourists."

It is time for Sa Pa to return to its beautiful, poetic image in traditional ethnic brocade costumes. Tourism development must be associated with culture, tradition, national identity and pride in the homeland, the land, and a misty Sa Pa that has been deeply imprinted in the minds of many people.
