Can Tho does not consider rewarding weak IT staff

At the opening ceremony of the contest on the morning of June 24, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Viet Truong said that the contest results are the basis for considering and scoring the administrative reform index of agencies, units and localities, and the level of task completion of leading officials and civil servants. Those with scores below 50 points will not be considered for rewards and will not be classified as having completed their tasks excellently at the end of the year.

According to the head of the city government, administrative reform associated with digital transformation of the city has had many positive changes in recent times. However, some officials and civil servants have not yet mastered the operations and skills of applying information technology in management. The exam results are the basis for training and standardizing the information technology level of officials and civil servants to meet the requirements of building the city's e-government in the period of 2021-2025.

The IT competency assessment contest is organized by the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City. Contestants are chairmen and vice chairmen of commune and ward People's Committees; heads and deputy heads of departments, branches, and divisions under the People's Committees of districts and towns. The contest content includes a 60-point theoretical test and a 40-point practical test. Contestants use official email, document management and administration software to do the practical test.

Can Tho City is 1,400 km2 wide, with over 1.2 million people, including 5 districts: Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang, O Mon, Thot Not and 4 districts: Phong Dien, Co Do, Thoi Lai, Vinh Thanh. This is a centrally-governed city and the center of the Mekong Delta.
