Cosmetic beauty trends are constantly changing with many different "trends," from applying retinol and tretinoin for at-home skin peeling to injecting BAP and fillers... Recently, many clients and patients have come to the Central Dermatology Hospital and inquired about methods for natural biological regeneration and non-surgical beauty treatments.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital, stated that, in principle, this is a positive trend, aiming for safe, natural, and minimally invasive beauty. However, it harbors potential problems stemming from these beauty trends, such as excessive expectations and overuse of these methods. Advertisements promoting injections of substances A and B as a complete replacement for fillers, or claims like "one injection equals a year of skincare," create unrealistic expectations for customers, especially when combined with terms like stem cells or autologous cells.
Everyone desires a safe, low-risk, and inexpensive beauty treatment, but it's crucial to consider factors such as skin type, the method used, and the location of the beauty salon where the procedure is performed. Furthermore, one should avoid being swayed by exaggerated advertisements, as this can be dangerous and lead to falling into traps with poor-quality services, resulting in serious complications and lasting health problems.
In fact, many people have recently suffered complications from undergoing beauty treatments at unqualified or unlicensed facilities. The Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Aesthetics (Viet Duc Friendship Hospital) alone has received and provided intensive treatment to over 20 cases of complications following filler injections at substandard facilities. Despite timely emergency treatment, some cases have resulted in lasting consequences, the most serious being blindness.
"People always want to beautify themselves quickly, affordably, effectively, and safely, but in reality, it's very difficult to achieve all of that at the same time. Because if you want both effectiveness and safety, you can't have something that's both fast and cheap at the same time," asserted Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh.
According to Dr. Vu Thai Ha, Head of the Stem Cell Technology Research and Application Department at the Central Dermatology Hospital, beauty trends are constantly changing, with many new beauty trends continuously emerging and spreading rapidly on social media. However, many people are unknowingly becoming victims of unverified trends, leading to serious consequences. Don't let yourself become a victim of unverified advertisements.

Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Head of the Department of Aesthetic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the Central Dermatology Hospital, believes that beauty should be based on each person's skin and physique, and should not follow any pre-existing mold. The natural beauty approach is very popular, focusing on enhancing beauty while maintaining a unique individuality that sets one apart.
Therefore, people seeking beauty treatments should not blindly trust exaggerated advertisements about the results of treatments at disreputable establishments. They should also thoroughly investigate whether the chosen facility is licensed, qualified, and whether the practitioner holds a professional license in this field before undergoing any cosmetic procedure or surgery.
Dermatologists also warn that in recent years, many beauty trends have emerged, but worryingly, many people still trust advertisements and undergo beauty treatments at unqualified or substandard facilities, leading to very serious consequences. Therefore, anyone considering any beauty procedure should take into account three factors: skin condition, method, and location. Beauty treatments must be safe, and one should not be swayed by advertisements promising quick, cheap results.
At the recent 8th National Conference on Aesthetic Dermatology, experts in the field warned that many unlicensed and unqualified beauty establishments are still deliberately performing procedures, especially those involving fraudulent practices such as failing to clearly list the ingredients in beauty products and cosmetics, which is extremely dangerous. Without knowing the ingredients and dosage, overuse of certain active ingredients can cause systemic health problems, not just affecting the skin.
Beauty is a normal need for everyone, especially women. Nowadays, there are many ways and forms of beauty care, from simple care with cosmetics or using some topical products, but the results are not as expected when compared to undergoing some procedures.
Regarding recent reports of authorities seizing, confiscating, and suspending the circulation of many counterfeit and substandard cosmetics and sunscreens, dermatologists affirm that cosmetics not only serve to enhance beauty but also protect the skin and overall health. Therefore, when buying and using cosmetics, people should choose products with clear origins and avoid those that are too cheap and sold haphazardly on e-commerce platforms.
