Dien Bien Airport resumes operations from December 2

(CPV) - The Dien Bien Airport Expansion Investment Project will be completed and permitted by the Ministry of Transport to resume operations on December 2, 2023.

On October 25, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said: The unit has sent a document to Vietnam Airlines Corporation - JSC; Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) and Aviation Joint Stock Companies: Vietjet Air, Tre Viet, Pacific Airlines, Vietravel Airlines about developing a plan to resume flights to and from Dien Bien Airport.

Specifically, in order to implement Decision No. 470 of the Prime Minister approving the investment policy of the Dien Bien Airport Expansion Construction Investment Project (Dien Bien Airport), recently, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is the assigned investor and has implemented the project's construction items.

It is expected that the Dien Bien Airport Expansion Construction Investment Project will be completed and permitted by the Ministry of Transport to resume operations on December 2, 2023.

To deploy the exploitation of flights to and from Dien Bien Airport in accordance with the time of resumption of operations, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Vietnamese airlines to research and develop plans to exploit flights to and from Dien Bien Airport, and organize ticket sales to serve the travel needs of passengers and people.

At the same time, request VATM to promptly organize an assessment and equip additional air-ground voice VHF communication equipment in an appropriate form to ensure coverage and overcome the no-signal areas in the Dien Bien airport area to deploy related processes and procedures to ensure readiness for operation as well as urgently deploy the installation of a new meteorological observation system (AWOS) to deploy related processes and procedures; promptly supplement and adjust related flight methods at Dien Bien airport (adjust the approach method with a missed approach slope of 4%, 2.5%); coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and related units to deploy and conduct assessments using the simulated flight training system (SIM); conduct flight assessment flights and review, amend and supplement contents related to the new Dien Bien CHK in the flight regulations of the Dien Bien airport area./.
