On March 21, on the occasion of the 2024 Philippine Port & Logistics Conference and Exhibition, Long An International Port, Vietnam and Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR), Philippines identified opportunities for cooperation and development and signed a Letter of Intent, formalizing the cooperative relationship.

Participating as a speaker at the conference, Long An International Port was recognized and highly appreciated by the international community for its investment scale, vision, development strategy and potential to connect with the Logistics chain, Seaports in the Southern region, promoting economic and social development in the Mekong Delta.

The Philippine Ports & Logistics Conference and Exhibition is organized by the Department of Transportation of the Philippines with the support of the Maritime Industry and Ports Authority of the Philippines, the Philippine Ports Authority and the ASEAN Ports Association.

The largest biennial event in the ASEAN East Growth Area (BIMP EAGA), took place from March 19 to 21 in Manila, Philippines with over 350 delegates including senior government officials, industry leaders, businesses, shipping lines, experts, suppliers from ASEAN countries and neighboring regions attending.

The highlight of the event series is the presentation of 35 prestigious speakers from many countries and leading businesses in the industry, focusing on prominent topics such as: Cooperation to reduce costs, digitize and reduce carbon emissions in the end-to-end supply chain; solving current issues and challenges facing the regional transportation and logistics industry.

Along with that is the appearance of exhibition space displaying many international shipping lines, logistics service providers, ports, road transport, railways, information technology and comprehensive solutions for supply chain networks.

Undersecretary of the Department of Transportation of the Philippines, Mr. Elmer Francisco U. Sarmiento highly appreciate the potential for logistics development in Long An province in general and Long An International Port in particular.

On March 20, Deputy Minister of Transportation of the Philippines - Mr. Elmer U. Sarmiento - visited the exhibition booth and took souvenir photos with leaders of Long An International Port.

As a new port in the seaport community, Long An International Port always strives to connect with seaports in the region and the world, thereby creating and promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends.

The signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent was witnessed by Mr. Vo Quoc Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dongtam Group; Ms. Nguyen Thuy Quynh Huong - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Long An International Port Management & Operation Joint Stock Company and Mr. Tomas Riveral, Chairman and General Director of Opascor, along with Senior Leaders of the two Ports.

The signing ceremony marks an important turning point, formalizing the sister relationship of two key ports in the ASEAN region, opening up opportunities for cooperation, sharing experiences in port management and operation, and connecting markets to increase import and export output; aiming for green, sustainable development and promoting global trade.

Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An Port Joint Stock Company, shared: " We wish to establish and foster a strong cooperative relationship with the leaders of Opascor. As a neighboring country in the ASEAN region, Long An International Port always wishes to connect cooperation opportunities between the two ports in particular and the business communities of the two localities, thereby building good relationships in the future, developing together, and sharing and learning in port operations and exploitation".

Within the framework of the program, delegates visited large-scale seaports in Manila on March 19 organized by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).

It is considered the largest domestic and international maritime gateway in the Philippines, with cargo volumes to and from many countries around the world. According to the PPA report, in 2022, the Port of Manila reached a throughput of 7.9 million TEUs and 260 million tons of cargo handled at all terminals.
