Western tourists coming to Quang Ninh nowadays almost only spend one night on the boat and then return to Hanoi - Photo: T.DIEU
That is the reality shared by Mr. Nguyen Quang Son - Deputy General Director of APC Corporation, General Director of Global Tourism Development Organization GTDO - at the seminar with the theme "Cultural Industry - Green driving force for cave space", organized by the UNESCO Information Center under the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations on June 5 in Quang Ninh.
Mr. Son shares from the experience of a business doing tourism in Quang Ninh .
Tourism products must also be true, good and beautiful.
Mr. Son said that European and American tourists currently come to Ha Long to sleep one night, then return to Hanoi the next morning, which is a waste of resources.
Recently, travel companies have discussed creating new tourism products so that Western tourists coming to Quang Ninh will go to the beach, sleep overnight on a yacht, have fun in Bai Chay during the day, and watch shows at night... to stay longer in Quang Ninh.
To do that, we must offer many attractive tourism products. Meanwhile, tourism products currently have a very short lifespan, only about one year, the following year the business has to replace the product with another.

Nowadays, tourists coming to Ha Long also change in age, getting younger.
Previously, there were mainly old tourists, but now there are many young tourists. A few years ago, Taiwanese tourists to Ha Long Bay were between the ages of 55 and 65. Now, many young people bring their families.
So businesses must try very hard to diversify their products, because the needs of young people change constantly.
Dr. Do Tran Phuong - Deputy Head of the Tourism Department of Hanoi University of Culture - also affirmed that creating new tourism products is very important because tourists always have new needs.
For tourism products to have a long life and be accepted by customers, they must meet three standards that Mr. Phuong calls truth, goodness, and beauty.
Truth must be in accordance with the law, the principles of environmental conservation, the cultural values integrated therein; and the commitment to the government and the community.
Kindness is bringing good things to many parties: tourists, locals, businesses...
America is creating emotions and good impressions for tourists.
Dr. Lu Thi Thanh Le (Faculty of Cultural and Heritage Industry, School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts) noted that when creating tourism products, there must be a harmonious approach to the interests of businesses, authorities and local people; considering the pillars of sustainable development such as economy, culture and environment.

Each locality must find its own “keywords”.
Regarding creating new products for tourism, Mr. Phuong cited examples in China as a good suggestion for Vietnam.
The Chinese city of Hebei has used the literary masterpiece Dream of the Red Chamber as inspiration to create 21 consecutive shows for tourists. These productions both exploit the story in the classic work and connect it to contemporary stories.
They also create commercial products such as souvenirs from the Dream of the Red Chamber story.
Shaolin, China, draws on its unique heritage of meditation and kungfu to create hundreds of different experiential activities.
Mr. Phuong concluded that if we want to exploit the cultural industry to develop tourism, each locality must identify its core and outstanding values.
Need to find one or two unique and "intensive" keywords, create many attractive tourism products from those keywords.
Dr. Thanh Le cited Hanoi as a successful example of exploiting cultural industries in tourism development. In this city, young people are participating in creating many attractive cultural tourism products, attracting many tourists.
For example, tourists are very excited to spend the whole day experiencing making wind paper, making cards, weaving handicrafts with artisans, making lacquer paintings with artists...
According to her, localities need to inventory their heritage to see what can be exploited to create new and creative tourism products.
Within the framework of the discussion, the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations awarded the "Pioneering Mission on the Heritage Journey" to Ngoc Rong Cave Company Limited, recognizing its innovative efforts in developing tourism products associated with heritage and the community through the show "Finding Pearls at Ngoc Rong Cave" that the enterprise has just launched.
Mr. Tran Van Manh - Permanent President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations - said that the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations initiated this mission transmission journey with the desire to seek and encourage initiatives and models with the potential to spread the UNESCO spirit in exploiting heritage, to join hands in creating a more harmonious and more unique world.
