Traffic Police Team No. 7 has coordinated with Thanh Xuan Ward Police (Hanoi) to take 'soft measures' to stop alcohol at beer pubs.

Hanoi traffic police innovate propaganda about not driving after drinking alcohol

At 6:00 p.m. on July 23, Road Traffic Police Team No. 7 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) coordinated with Thanh Xuan Ward Police to start a propaganda session on the harmful effects of drinking alcohol and driving.

Innovating the form of propaganda, Traffic Police Team No. 7 will join Thanh Xuan Ward Police to go to beer shops, restaurants... in the area to post notices of fines for alcohol violations for drivers of cars and motorbikes. At the same time, encourage shop owners to persuade customers who have consumed alcohol to leave their vehicles and use public transport to go home.

When the patrol team was on Nguyen Tuan Street (Thanh Xuan Ward, Hanoi), they discovered many vehicles in the parking lot of a beer house, so they went in to spread propaganda.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong - manager of the beer bar said that he strongly supports the traffic police and the ward police coming to the bar to directly propagate. The bar is also ready to arrange security guards to watch the vehicles of customers who have consumed alcohol and beer.

Traffic police have posted many propaganda signs about the fines for alcohol violations in visible locations in beer pubs.

Mr. Duc (residing in Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi) was surprised to see the traffic police directly propagandizing in the beer house, but also promised to leave his motorbike and take a motorbike taxi home after the "fun".

Along with propaganda work, Traffic Police Team No. 7 still maintains teams to control violations of alcohol concentration.

That same evening, traffic police discovered a male driver driving a motorbike with a level 1 alcohol concentration (regulated in Decree 168/2024).

The male driver said he had just been drinking to celebrate a neighbor’s birthday, then had to drive to pick up his child from school. He admitted that he was careless when he continued driving after drinking.

The Traffic Police Team has issued a fine for the male driver for the following offense: Driving a motorbike with a breath alcohol concentration of less than 0.25 mg/L. For this offense, the driver will be fined 2.5 million VND and have 4 points deducted from his driver's license.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Son - Traffic Police Team No. 7 said that in the past month, the unit has handled 299 cases of drivers driving cars and motorbikes violating alcohol concentration. However, the level and number of violations have decreased compared to the same period.
