Standing Deputy Secretary of Tan An City Party Committee - Le Thi Khuyen visited and gave gifts to mother Nguyen Thi Bong (Binh Tam commune, Tan An city)
1. The house of gratitude in Binh Nam hamlet, Binh Tam commune, Tan An city, Long An province is the residence of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Bong. Mother Bong shared that, following the family's revolutionary tradition, she joined the revolution early as a liaison and military activist. Here, she met and fell in love with Mr. Le Van Khuong. During the war years, Mother Bong, together with local cadres and people, worked hard to propagate and mobilize people to raise their patriotism, participate in supporting the revolution, and create a solid rear for her husband and children to confidently go to war to protect the Fatherland.
In 1967, during an enemy sweep, her husband died while on duty. At that time, she was only 27 years old and had 5 children. Suppressing her grief, Mother Bong continued to work and raise her children to be good people.
Later, her eldest son, Le Van Thanh, also died. Once again, the pain of losing a son tore at her heart. As for Mother Bong, during her time as a liaison, she was twice arrested by the enemy and imprisoned in different prisons. Despite being beaten and tortured, she remained steadfastly loyal to the revolution. Today, in her old age, Mother Bong's health has declined due to the after-effects of those beatings.
Mother Bong's children and grandchildren later followed the family tradition, participating in the People's Army and the People's Police. They now have stable lives, continuing to contribute to the cause of national construction in peacetime. However, in August 2022, Mother Bong's grandson, Captain Nguyen Le Chi Cong Hoang Khoi (working at Ward 5 Police, Tan An City) died while protecting the scene of a traffic accident.
“Today's young generation must study and live a useful life for society to preserve and build the country, worthy of their ancestors, who died to gain independence like today” - Bong's mother advised.
2. Duc Hue district currently has 323 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, of which 3 are still alive: Mother Phan Thi Duong (My Thanh Dong commune), Mother Nguyen Thi Tu (Dong Thanh town) and Mother Nguyen Thi Bia (My Thanh Tay commune).
Among the three surviving VNAH Mothers, Mother Tu and Mother Bi are still lucid. Every time a delegation visits, both mothers ask about and do not forget to wish the health of the members of the delegation. "I wish you all good health, strive to work hard to contribute to the country" - Mother Bi said with a smile.
As for Heroic Vietnamese Mother Bien Thi Tu (Thanh Ba Hamlet, My Loc Commune, Can Giuoc District), her relatives died in the resistance war to protect the nation's independence. With no husband or children, in her last years, Mother Tu lived with her nephew. Occasionally, district leaders, local departments, agencies, union members, and youth came to visit and help her clean the house. Although Mother Tu was still lucid, she had to stay in one place in her last years due to a fall.
Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council presents gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Tran Thi Nam (Tan Tap commune, Can Giuoc district)
For Heroic Vietnamese Mother Tran Thi Nam (Tan Dong Hamlet, Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District), she still remembers the stories about her husband, her children, and the revolution. Mother Nam said that almost her entire life was associated with the revolutionary cause of her homeland and country. Mother Nam had a husband and children who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Her life went through difficult and poor days when the land of Tan Tap in the past was not only salty but also heavily alum-contaminated. Now, seeing her homeland changing day by day, Mother Nam is very happy!
3. The title "VNAH Mother" is a noble title that the Socialist Republic of Vietnam confers and posthumously confers on Vietnamese women who have made many contributions and sacrifices for the cause of national liberation, protecting the Fatherland and fulfilling international obligations.
Through two resistance wars against French colonialism and the US to save the country, together with the whole country, the army and people of Long An have achieved many outstanding achievements, contributing worthily to the cause of fighting for national independence and reunification.
Up to now, the whole province has more than 3,000 cadres and soldiers awarded the Prisoner of War Medal; nearly 80,000 people with revolutionary contributions were awarded the Resistance Medal; the People and armed forces of Long An were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
In particular, at the 2nd Congress of Heroes - Emulation Fighters of the whole South (September 1967), Long An province was honored to be awarded the title "Loyal and resilient, the whole people fight the enemy" by the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam.
Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Bia (My Thanh Tay commune, Duc Hue district) was touched when a delegation visited.
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the province currently has 5,365 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, 77 of whom are still alive (data at the end of 2023). In recent years, with the ethics of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude", the Party Committee, government and people in the province have paid special attention to families of war invalids, martyrs and people with revolutionary contributions through practical and meaningful actions.
All surviving VNAH Mothers are cared for by agencies, departments, branches and organizations until the end of their lives and are regularly visited and encouraged materially and spiritually. In particular, Long An is the first province to have a policy of building gratitude houses for those who worship VNAH Mothers,...
Each Heroic Vietnamese Mother is a meaningful story about the spirit of noble sacrifice for the homeland and country, making us appreciate the value of peace even more. The country is peaceful and increasingly developing, the Party, the State and society are increasingly interested in the work of gratitude. For mothers, that is the greatest spiritual encouragement./.
