Cao Pendant Quang Vinh first practice session with Vietnam team
On the afternoon of June 1, defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh had his first training session with the Vietnam national team. The defender born in 1997 completed the make-up match of round 23 of the V-League in the colors of the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club), when he defeated Binh Duong with a score of 3-1 away.
He and two CAHN club players, Nguyen Filip and Quang Hai, flew to Hanoi yesterday afternoon (May 31), and had an evening to rest before starting training today.
Sharing with the press before the training session, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh was still excited to wear the national team jersey for the first time. "I'm very happy to be here. I'm very eager to prepare to compete and practice with my teammates," the CAHN defender affirmed.

Quang Vinh recounted that he received the news of being called up to the Vietnamese national team while at the airport. "Nguyen Filip turned on his phone and told me the news. I was surprised and said, 'Oh, really?'. I remember laughing out loud because I was so happy," the 28-year-old defender confided.
Quang Vinh added that not only himself but his family also burst into joy. “My mother was so proud, she cried. She told me: try your best, do everything for the country.”
Cao Pendant Quang Vinh played for France U.16 and U.18, and was a teammate of famous players such as Marcus Thuram and Ousmane Dembele. He grew up at the Sochaux Club training center, played for 6 years in Ligue 2 (2014 - 2020), before moving to the US to play for New York Red Bulls in the 2020 - 2022 period. Quang Vinh returned to France to play for Quevilly Rouen in the 2022 - 2023 and 2023 - 2024 seasons.
In mid-2024, he returned to Vietnam to play for CAHN Club. After nearly a year, Quang Vinh obtained Vietnamese nationality and became the second overseas Vietnamese star in the past 2 years to play for the national team, after Nguyen Filip.
"I will be fine. I believe I can adapt quickly. I think the environment of the Vietnamese national team is similar to that of the CAHN Club. Everyone laughs, chats and welcomes me like a family member," Cao Pendant Quang Vinh affirmed.
Coach Kim Sang-sik cares a lot about his players.
As soon as he returned to Hanoi to join the Vietnamese team, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh had a conversation with coach Kim Sang-sik.
"Mr. Kim asked me if I was tired because I had just played (the match against Binh Duong Club on May 30). He told me to rest if I felt tired. The head coach wants the players to be in the best condition on the Vietnam team," Cao Pendant Quang Vinh emphasized.
"I believe Mr. Kim Sang-sik is a good coach because he cares about the players' moods and emotions."

In the Vietnam national team, Quang Vinh will play on the left wing, in the same position as Nguyen Van Vi and Khuat Van Khang. Quang Vinh highly appreciates his teammates and shares that he will do his best to compete. The left wing of the Vietnam national team will witness an interesting competition, as Mr. Kim has tried many faces, but up to now, Van Vi has been the most frequently on the field (10 matches, from December 2024 to present).
Cao Pendant Quang Vinh has played 32 matches for CAHN FC this season, scoring 2 goals. He is a key factor in the squad that won the ASEAN Club Championship runner-up position, as well as competing for the top 3 of the V-League and seeking the National Cup championship of CAHN FC.
Cao Pendant Quang Vinh will have 10 days of training with the Vietnamese team, before entering the match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, taking place on June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Quang Vinh's two friends, Ousmane Dembele (PSG) and Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan), faced each other in the Champions League final, which took place early this morning, June 1, in Munich, Germany. As a result, Dembele and PSG won 5-0 and ascended to the European throne.
"I'm happy for Dembele, for PSG and French football because they have waited a long time to win the Champions League. However, I'm also sad for my friend Thuram. He really wanted to win and it was difficult to overcome such a heavy defeat," Quang Vinh emphasized.
