The arduous journey before surgery and overcoming adversity.
Son Anh is the hope and motivation for life of his single mother, Luu Phuong Anh (born in 1987). However, fate was not kind when the boy was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure.
To save her child, the only solution was a kidney transplant, costing up to 800 million VND, a sum far too large for the single mother who works as a veterinary officer at the ward level.
A reporter from Dan Tri newspaper, along with the leadership of the National Children's Hospital, handed over the sum of 382,374,522 VND donated by readers to the family of little Son Anh (Photo: Contributor).
Dr. Cao Viet Tung, Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital, kindly inquired about and encouraged Son Anh (Photo: Huong Hong).
Ms. Phuong Anh shared: "I have tried everything to earn money to pay for my child's treatment, but the amount is so large that my family is in a desperate situation."
Given the dire circumstances of Son Anh's family, Dan Tri newspaper appealed for help from readers and philanthropists through the article "Single mother in despair over 800 million VND needed for kidney transplant surgery to save her child" .
The outpouring of kindness brought hope to Son Anh. In a short time, the donated money was enough to pay for the boy's kidney transplant surgery.
Thanks to the dedication of the medical team at the National Children's Hospital, Son Anh's kidney transplant was a success. After the surgery, the boy received special care and close monitoring. Son Anh's health is progressing well, his vital signs are stable, and he is gradually recovering.

Dr. Cao Viet Tung, Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital, shared: "Son Anh is a resilient boy. His recovery is a great joy for the doctors, nurses, and benefactors."
Every patient saved is not only a success of medicine, but also the culmination of compassion. I believe that if each person contributes even a small part, we can achieve extraordinary things."
After a period of treatment and recovery, Son Anh has returned to school. He is eager to see his friends and teachers again and continue his learning journey. Joy is evident on his innocent face as he participates in learning and playing activities like his peers.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Phuong Anh's family would like to express their gratitude to all the kind-hearted people who helped Son Anh overcome the most difficult period of his life.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the medical team, the Social Work Department of the National Children's Hospital, Dan Tri newspaper, the teachers and school, and all the benefactors who have helped my family. Thanks to everyone, Son Anh has the life he has today," Ms. Phuong Anh said emotionally.

"Never lose hope."
Now, Phuong Anh's family is full of hope. She plans to find a part-time job to better care for Son Anh. As for the boy, with his health recovering, he wants to study hard and participate in sports to improve his health.
Son Anh innocently shared: "I want to become a doctor so I can cure many people, just like the doctors have cured me."
In Phuong Anh's small family home, Son Anh's joyful laughter is a testament to his miraculous recovery. The boy who once only knew how to lie in a hospital bed can now run, jump, play, and immerse himself in the vibrant atmosphere of welcoming the spring.
