According to estimates from Exhibitor Relations on July 27, in Disney's much-anticipated reboot of the Marvel Comics superhero series, " The Fantastic Four: First Steps ," conquered the North American box office last weekend when it earned $118 million and surpassed " Superman. "
"Fantastic Four" tells the story of a group of superheroes trying to save a futuristic world from the evil Galactus. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Emmy Award winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn.
David A. Gross, from Franchise Entertainment Research, a company that provides box office information to the film industry, said that while “Fantastic Four” is a modest and struggling superhero franchise, the opening film has been a stellar success.
Falling to second place at the box office last weekend was director James Gunn's " Superman ," with $24.9 million. To date, the global revenue of the action film featuring the iconic superhero from Warner Bros. and DC Studios has surpassed the $500 million mark.
