In Khe Na village, Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong district, the family of Vi Van Bon and Ha Thi Thu are poor households. Their life depends on farming all year round. In the 2024-2025 school year, as soon as she took over as head teacher of class 4A4, Khe Bu school, Chau Khe Primary School, Con Cuong district, teacher Nguyen Thi Hoa paid special attention to the boy Vi Thien Phu - the second son of Mr. Bon and Ms. Thu because Phu was an intelligent, quick-witted child with quite good academic achievements. It was also thanks to that special attention that Ms. Hoa discovered that Phu's eyes had unusual manifestations.

Sympathizing with the poor student's situation, Ms. Hoa directly took Phu to the Southwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital for examination and the doctors concluded that he had congenital cataracts, one eye was completely blind, the other eye could only see 10% and needed urgent surgery, otherwise it would be very dangerous.

Holding the results in their hands, both Phu's parents and the teacher completely lost hope because they understood that with the family's current situation, the possibility of regaining sight in his eyes was impossible...

And then, while taking her students to school, Ms. Hoa happened to meet Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Nguyen, Chief of Chau Khe Commune Police, who is also her younger brother. She told him about Phu's case. The story of the poor student with an innocent face and almost invisible eyes was deeply engraved in his mind. "I thought I had to do something," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen shared.

Thinking is doing, he immediately discussed with his wife to take part of the family's savings; at the same time, called on relatives and friends to join hands to support Phu's treatment. Through information channels, by chance, Thai Nguyen Company located in Con Cuong district learned about Phu's case and decided to support the treatment costs for his eyes.

With the support of a “philanthropist”, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen arranged for Phu to be taken to Saigon Vinh Eye Hospital for examination. Here, after consultation and sympathizing with the family’s situation, Doctor Hoang Trung Kien, Director of the Hospital, decided to directly perform the surgery and sponsor the entire cost of more than 100 million VND.

After two days of waiting, Phu’s eye surgery was successful, bringing boundless happiness to his family and everyone. For Bon and Thu’s family, finding light for their child’s eyes was something they had never dared to think about. Without the help and support of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen, teacher Hoa and the “benefactors”, it would have remained a dream and never come true.
