Ben Rung Bridge started construction in May 2022. Of the nearly 2,000 billion VND investment, the central budget allocated 1,100 billion VND; Hai Phong City more than 835 billion VND and Quang Ninh province 5.5 billion VND.

After more than 18 months of construction, the bridge has basically taken shape and is expected to be inaugurated on April 30.

The three main pillars across the river are designed in the shape of the letter V (Victory) symbolizing the three victories over foreign invaders on the Bach Dang River.

The bridge is 1.9 km long, 21.5 m wide, has 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes, with synchronous auxiliary infrastructure such as safety strips, median strips, lighting systems, traffic safety equipment, etc.

According to plan, Ben Rung bridge will be closed on February 3 to speed up the project's completion.

The completed bridge will help people in Thuy Nguyen district and Quang Yen town to travel quickly, without having to wait for the Rung ferry for 30-60 minutes, or having to travel 40 km to National Highway 18 and then turn to National Highway 10. The project will create a new driving force for regional connectivity, promote the economy , culture and society between the two localities and attract human resources for industrial parks.

Nearly 400 workers are divided into 3 shifts working on the project site. Of which, the three piers in the middle of the river always have 80 people working. Currently, the contractor has completed 380/380 bored piles, 35/39 piers - piers, the construction of piers, bridge girders and cable-stayed cables is being accelerated.

Construction machinery and equipment were mobilized to the maximum. The construction unit also set up a concrete mixing station close to the main bridge piers on the river to save time.

The project passes through 1.85 hectares of mangrove forest. On the Hai Phong side, one hectare of forest has been handed over. After the project is completed, the authorities will replant the forest.

A year ago, the project was very difficult to carry out because 0.8 hectares of forest in Quang Ninh had to be converted, which took a long time, and the overall project was behind schedule. The construction unit had to build a bamboo bridge for workers to move and support the concrete pipe. After that, the leaders of the two localities met to discuss and implement many measures to complete the site clearance and project construction.
