DTO - Dong Thap Club has just gone through 2 unbeaten matches (1 win, 1 draw) in the National Cup and the National First Division Football Tournament - Bia Sao Vang in 2024/2025. Possessing a team with equal expertise, stable performance and reasonable tactics from the coaching staff are the foundations that help the Cao Lanh home team confidently compete in the new season that promises many challenges.

Before the 2024/2025 season began, many clubs participating in the National First Division Football League showed great ambition and invested heavily in both finance and personnel. However, Dong Thap Club still strived for a successful season to meet the expectations of fans. To realize that determination, the Club's Board of Directors quickly completed the framework with many quality faces signed to play for the Cao Lanh Stadium team. In the attack line, the Red Lotus Team added many notable strikers such as Phan Tan Tai, Tran Thanh from Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club and Hue Club; midfielder Le Trung Vinh from Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club. At the same time, the defense was reinforced by bringing in defenders: Dao Tan Loc (Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club), Bui Ngoc Thinh (Dong Nai) and Tran Tien Dat (Becamex Binh Duong Club). In addition, Dong Thap Club also renewed the coaching staff by appointing Phan Thanh Binh as Head Coach.

Having quickly stabilized the framework for the new season, Dong Thap Club actively trained, played friendly matches to review the force, perfected the playing style, and was ready to conquer the challenges of the new season. On October 19, at Cao Lanh Stadium, Dong Thap Club kicked off the new season by hosting their First Division opponent, Dong Nai Club, in the National Cup Qualifying Round. Playing at home in front of nearly 2,000 fans, Dong Thap Club did not hide their intention to attack first to win. After missed situations by Trung Hau and Khac Le, in the 34th minute, rookie striker Tran Thanh had a precise choice of position and finished the ball to open the score for the home team. The second half took place with the game completely belonging to the home team at Cao Lanh Stadium, but Dong Thap Club's strikers were unlucky and could not score more goals. The match ended with a minimal 1-0 victory, bringing Dong Thap FC to face Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium in the round of 16.

A favorable start at the National Cup added strength and confidence to Dong Thap Club's debut in the National First Division Football Tournament. Despite playing away at Tu Do Stadium of Hue Club, Coach Phan Thanh Binh's team still maintained stable form, solidarity and reasonable playing style to achieve favorable results. Despite unexpectedly conceding a goal in the 60th minute, Coach Phan Thanh Binh's students quickly equalized 1-1 in the 63rd minute thanks to center-back Ngoc Thinh. After equalizing the score, Dong Thap Club created at least 2 scoring opportunities, but unfortunately the away team's strikers could not take advantage of them. However, gaining 1 away point on the opening day of the National First Division Football Tournament was a result that met the expectations of Dong Thap Club's coaching staff.

After 2 unbeaten matches, Coach Phan Thanh Binh's students have a comfortable and confident mentality to prepare for the long race of the National First Division Football Championship 2024/2025. In addition to good results, Dong Thap Club also showed expertise, integration into the general playing style and quite stable performance of rookies and veterans. In terms of tactics, Coach Phan Thanh Binh and his colleagues helped the Cao Lanh home team play at a fast pace, proactively coordinate in small groups and prioritize ball control. Dong Thap Club operated well, requiring the transition from attack to defense and vice versa according to the instructions of the coaching staff.

On November 3, Dong Thap Club will return to their home ground to welcome Ho Chi Minh City Youth Team in the second round of the National First Division Football Tournament.
