Having been involved in software programming for more than ten years and working in Hanoi, Mr. Vu Duc Tuan suddenly decided to "leave the city and return to the countryside" to raise aquatic products. In the early days of starting his new job, he encountered many difficulties, especially in farm management. And these difficulties were the motivation for Vu Anh Tuan to create his own software for himself and those who are managing aquatic farms.
That is how Mr. Vu Duc Tuan (born in 1990, residing in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province) can remotely monitor the development status of millions of shrimp fry thanks to the farm management application installed on his smartphone. Vu Duc Tuan confided that, as a "techie", when he realized the difficulties in managing and operating production of farms, he hatched the idea of designing an application in the form of a digital diary... and that is how the FarmGo software was born.
“When I returned to the farm, I thought I would give up the IT industry. After about 2 years of raising livestock, the farm business became overloaded, requiring management tools but there were no tools that could meet the needs. At that time, I decided to go back and make some tools to solve the problem for my farm. After that, I saw the effectiveness, and needed to replicate it to help farmers be more convenient and successful,” Tuan shared.
Directly managing the farm, Mr. Tuan knows very well what managers need when using FarmGo and determines that the software must be easy to use, not requiring specialized or expensive equipment so that everyone can access and exploit it. On the other hand, the software must be suitable for actual working conditions, with basic operations suitable for each production scale, type of livestock, poultry or seafood farm... Thanks to those advantages, FarmGo software currently attracts thousands of accounts from farms using it with a subscription fee of 30,000 VND/month.
Recalling the time when the software was first released, Mr. Tuan encountered many difficulties because farmers were used to doing things "by experience" and were afraid of contact with technology. To change the mindset and habits of farmers, Mr. Tuan supported users in many forms such as consulting, instructing, providing free software usage time...
Ms. Le Thi Khoa (a chicken farmer in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province) said that, like many other farmers in Quang Yen, changing habits is not easy, but now her family's farming is much more convenient.
“Before, I was not interested in using technology in raising chickens, because I was used to manual bookkeeping. But since Tuan enthusiastically guided me, patiently taught me how to use the software, and often gave me free time to use it, after a period of use, I gradually got used to the new management method and gradually found it to be very useful,” Ms. Khoa could not hide her admiration.
Along with the use of management software, farmers have found that the application of digital transformation has brought high efficiency to their own farms. Mr. Vu Tien Duong (Hoang Tan commune, Quang Yen town) - currently the owner of a pig farm of nearly 250 pigs, said that because he is the only one doing all the steps, the workload in a day is very large. But since he learned about and used farm management software on his smartphone, his work has become much simpler and more effective.
“Before, I had to clean the barns and feed them and then enter them into the books immediately. Every time the books were damaged or lost, it was very difficult to check the data. Since using the software, work has become much more efficient. Data can be updated anytime, anywhere. The workload has been greatly reduced, saving time and costs for the farm,” Mr. Duong shared.
It was the thought of how to help and accompany farmers that motivated and nurtured the passion that helped Vu Duc Tuan create software to support agricultural production. This was also the premise that helped him participate in competitions and win many local and national awards such as: Runner-up of Techfest Hai Phong 2022, Champion of Creative Ideas of Quang Ninh Province 2023...
Most recently, at the contest "Searching for creative startup ideas and projects in 2023" jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Vu Duc Tuan again excelled in the national final round with the project "FarmGo farm management software platform".
Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Nga, Secretary of the Quang Yen Town Youth Union (Quang Ninh) said that Vu Duc Tuan's achievements have spread the spirit of entrepreneurship in the Quang Yen Startup Club.
"Vu Duc Tuan is also an active member of the Quang Yen Startup Club. His goal is to contribute more of his youth to help the local people, striving to develop the economy in the field of high-tech agriculture. The Youth Union wants to spread Tuan's entrepreneurial spirit to many other young people with creative startup ideas in various fields, to improve production and business efficiency," said Ms. Nga.
In the near future, in addition to solving the problem of farm management, Mr. Tuan hopes to develop more applications to bring final products to customers. Thereby, farmers and businesses can consume their products, and consumers will also be assured when the origin is transparently traced, ensuring safety.
