His parents died early, so Dang Trong Dinh (born in 2003, from Nghe An ) lived with his grandparents since he was a child. After graduating from high school, Dinh decided to go to work to earn money to support his family and at the same time nurture his passion for learning photography.

For 2 years, the young man traveled everywhere, from North to South, working many jobs such as waiter, worker, kitchen assistant.

In early 2024, Dinh unfortunately had an accident at work involving electricity, forcing him to amputate both of his forearms. This incident still shocks him every time he remembers it.

“I don’t know what words to use to describe my feelings at that moment. From a healthy person, I suddenly lost both arms. And when I woke up, I had to face the shock, the irreplaceable loss,” Dinh said.

Dinh's photo before and after the incident moved netizens

At first after the incident, Dinh felt hopeless and depressed. But thinking of his grandparents and aunt who were always by his side, he told himself to be strong and stand up, taking the saying “being alive is a blessing” as his motto in life.

For the first 4-5 months, he needed help with all his activities. After that, Dinh persevered in practicing, learned how to eat and drink by himself... He searched for videos online, observed how people in similar situations lived, and thanks to that, he had more motivation to overcome the difficulties.

Having a passion for photography and having experience in cooking, in early February 2025, Dinh created a TikTok channel to share daily life and culinary videos.

He does most of the work himself: setting up the camera, cooking, and editing the videos. Occasionally, his aunt and kind neighbors help with heavy or manual tasks, like setting up a tripod or carrying pots and pans.

At first, Dinh chose rustic, familiar dishes such as salted elephant foot yam, fried sweet potato, bean sprouts, and stir-fried núc nác flowers with beef.

Each video is only 2-3 minutes long, but it usually takes him several days to complete, from preparing ingredients, cooking to filming. Some weeks, he can only post 1-2 videos.

Some dishes, like bean sprouts, take him many times, even a whole week, to get right.

During the cooking process, Dinh often has to change the camera angle and choose the camera position to ensure the most beautiful and impressive frame.

Each video is meticulously made, from the cooking method, dialogue to camera angle and film color. Thanks to that, his videos quickly attracted millions of views, along with a series of encouraging and complimentary comments.

The guy wants to spread optimism through every cooking video

Dinh said that everyone's care and support is the motivation for him to overcome adversity and move towards a positive life.

“The incident has left me unable to stabilize and balance my life, but I hope to spread energy and optimism to everyone around me, especially those in the same situation.

I want to convey the belief that living and working is also happiness. When people look at me, they can see that even though I am missing both arms, I can still live happily, live healthily and do many useful things for society," Dinh expressed.
