On December 16th in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony to meet with and encourage military sports teams that achieved high results in 2025. Attending and directing the ceremony were General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defence, and other leaders of the Ministry of National Defence.
The meeting and motivational event aimed to report on the outstanding achievements in training and competition of the military's sports forces over the past year; to acknowledge and encourage athletes and coaches; and to spread the spirit of training and competition in military sports. Notably, the Viettel Sports Club was one of 10 teams recognized for its persistent efforts, discipline, and dedication.

In the 2024-2025 season, The Cong Viettel won the bronze medal in the National Cup and finished 4th in the V-League. With its military identity, the team consistently ranks among the top clubs competing for the championship.
As part of the program, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - took the time to meet with and encourage the The Cong Viettel club right at the team's football field.

The Minister visited and held discussions with the coaching staff, players, and representatives of the professional departments, assessing the team's training, competition, and management and development activities.
Minister Phan Van Giang also shared his expectations that the team would continue to uphold the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in competition, maintain the identity of The Cong, and spread the spirit of military sports to the community, and wished the entire team success in all tournaments.

The Minister also presented gifts to encourage the five youth teams of The Cong Viettel, the next generation tasked with preserving the tradition and laying the foundation for long-term development goals.
Representatives of the The Cong Viettel club also respectfully presented the minister with a trophy, jerseys, and a signed football, expressing their deep gratitude for the timely attention, guidance, and encouragement given to the team.


With 71 years of history, The Cong Viettel is the most successful and longest-running football team in Vietnam. The military team boasts 6 national championships, 4 national A-League titles, 9 Northern A-League titles, and many other important awards.
From 2020 to the present, Viettel Sports has contributed an average of 30-35% of athletes to the national teams each year. With 108 individuals contributed to the national teams at all levels over the past 6 years, Viettel Sports is the unit that has contributed the most athletes of all ages to Vietnamese football.
