Consecutive forest fires in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, hundreds of people put out the fires at night

From the images recorded by local people, the forest fire in Pac Lieng area, Binh Lieu town, Quang Ninh has a fairly large burned area.

Ms. Hoang Thi Nghi (Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu town, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province) said that the forest fire broke out at around 7:00 p.m. the same day in sub-area 291 (in Khe Boc area, bordering Pac Lieng and Co Nhan areas of the town).

According to the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, authorities and local residents fought the fire for several hours. However, strong winds caused the fire to spread quickly and become difficult to control. It was not until 1 a.m. that the fire was basically brought under control.

“The local government has mobilized hundreds of people, including residents of the three adjacent areas of Khe Boc, Co Nhan and Pac Lieng, along with military forces and forest rangers, to deploy fire-fighting measures,” added the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu town.

According to Ms. Nghi, the forest fire occurred in an area where it was difficult to deploy firefighting measures, fire trucks of the fire prevention and fighting force could not reach the scene, strong winds blew the ashes, so new fires continuously appeared. The local fire fighting force had to scoop buckets of water to moisten and prevent the fire from spreading. At the same time, people moved fallen trees away from the fire site.

In addition, on the evening of April 12, a fire also broke out in the forest area in Dai Yen, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh. At around 9:00 p.m., residents of Dai Yen Ward discovered a fire on the west side of a hill near National Highway 18. After only a few minutes, the fire had spread.

Although the fire was actively put out by local people and firefighters, the hill was still red with fire.

At around 10pm, the fire spread to the residential area, causing the risk of spreading to the residential area. Firefighters and residents had to use all means to prevent the fire from spreading into the house. By 0:30am on April 13, the fire had reduced in intensity. Authorities continued to control the fire.

Since storm No. 3 (September 2024), forests in Quang Ninh have been severely damaged, creating about 6 million tons of flammable materials. Since then, forest fires have frequently occurred in localities in Quang Ninh.

The forest fire in the Cot Co Mountain, Trang Minh, Kien An area in Hai Phong was extinguished last night. In the past month, there have been 3 fires in this area.
