Consumer price index (CPI) in May in Nghe An increased by 0.18%

In May, Vietnam Electricity Group issued Decision No. 599/QD-EVN dated May 7, 2025 on adjusting the average retail electricity price, accordingly, the average retail electricity price after adjustment is equivalent to an increase of 4.8% compared to the current average retail electricity price. Meanwhile, high food and food prices, hot weather... are the main reasons for the consumer price index in May 2025 to increase by 0.18% compared to the previous month, increase by 2.06% over the same period last year; compared to December 2024, it increased by 0.51%.

Of the 11 main consumer goods and services groups, 6 groups had price indexes that increased compared to the previous month: Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 0.63%; Food and catering services increased by 0.36%; Other goods and services increased by 0.16%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.13%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.11%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.01%.

There are 2 groups of indexes that decreased compared to the previous month: Transportation decreased by 0.49% and Household equipment and appliances decreased by 0.06% compared to the previous month.

There are 3 price index groups that remained unchanged compared to the previous month: Post and telecommunications,education , and medicine and health services.

On average, in the first 5 months of 2025, the consumer price index increased by 1.86% over the same period last year. There were 8/11 groups of goods that increased, including: Medicines and medical services increased by 13.34%; Other goods and services increased by 6.85%; Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 3.51%; Food and catering services increased by 2.92%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 1.11%; Apparel, hats and footwear increased by 1.05%; Household equipment and utensils increased by 0.81%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.81%.

There are 3/11 commodity groups that decreased including: Transportation decreased by 6.14%; Education decreased by 0.84%; and Post and telecommunications decreased by 0.41%.

The gold price index in May 2025 increased by 8.06% compared to the previous month, up 49.55% over the same period. The average for the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 46.7% over the same period. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in the same direction as world gold prices.

The US dollar index increased by 0.69% compared to the previous month and by 2.56% compared to the same period last year. The average for the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 2.56% compared to the same period last year.
