
On November 5, concluding the meeting of voters of the People's Council delegates at two levels in Vi Thanh ward, Can Tho city, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho city, said that after 4 months of operation, the two-level local government in the city has basically been smooth and effective, reducing intermediate levels in the state apparatus. However, the two-level local government has not been synchronized since its initial operation, the settlement of administrative procedures for people has not been timely, and the information technology infrastructure has not met the requirements for synchronous connection.
In the coming time, Can Tho city will strive to quickly overcome the initial limitations in the two-level local government activities. Specifically, the city will continue to train and develop cadres to meet the tasks and understand the work; second cadres from departments and branches to communes and wards, especially communes and wards that still have difficulties in the two-level local government activities.
After merging provincial-level administrative units, Can Tho city has 103 commune-level administrative units, including 31 wards and 72 communes. Of which, 30 wards and 65 communes were formed after the reorganization and 8 commune-level administrative units were not reorganized, namely Tan Loc ward, Truong Long, Thanh Phu, Thoi Hung, Phong Nam, My Phuoc, Lai Hoa, Vinh Hai communes.

After the administrative unit arrangement, the socio-economic situation, national defense and security of Can Tho city in the first 10 months of the year and estimated in 2025 achieved positive results. The city's economic growth was quite good, all areas had positive growth compared to the same period last year. Many major urban and transport infrastructure projects were accelerated (Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway; provincial roads; key traffic intersections, industrial park infrastructure, energy infrastructure projects, etc.).
Can Tho's industrial production recovered, maintaining a growth index of 10%; trade and services grew well as planned; agricultural production was stable, with rice output of 4.7 million tons and aquatic products reaching over 780 thousand tons. Many concentrated production areas, VietGAP, GlobalGAP were expanded; high technology was applied, and crop structure was effectively transformed.
The total state budget revenue according to the estimate assigned by the Government up to October 20, 2025 of Can Tho reached nearly 82% of the estimate assigned by the Central Government and nearly 77% of the estimate assigned by the City People's Council. The disbursement result of the city's public investment plan up to October 23, 2025 reached nearly 35% compared to the Prime Minister's assignment; reached more than 36% compared to the Resolution assigned by the City People's Council; striving to reach the disbursement rate assigned by the Prime Minister by the end of the year.
