As mentioned in previous news, the cold air that came to the North last weekend mainly helped dry the weather and reduce the heat, and caused bad weather in some places, but no longer caused cold. The winter-spring cold has officially ended.
Due to the influence of cold air, the North is still relatively cool in the first days of this week. This afternoon, April 14, the temperature in Hanoi is only at 27 - 28oC (actual outdoor temperature) and in the next few days it will be at 31 - 32oC. Other provinces in the North have a similar trend of increasing temperature.
Notably, towards the end of the week, possibly from April 18 (Friday), the North will begin to experience a heat wave, which can be considered the most severe heat wave since the beginning of this year, with temperatures in many northern provinces reaching 39 - 40oC.
Currently, major models are predicting that the heat will be very intense from around Saturday, April 19, with the temperature in Hanoi reaching 40oC. The model of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) is even more “harsh”, predicting that the highest temperature in Hanoi on April 19 will reach 42oC. Temperatures in neighboring areas are similar, only coastal provinces will be cooler.
Although the models predict slightly different temperatures, it can be seen that the difference is small (1 - 2oC), in addition, the models are consistent in predicting that April 19 will be extremely hot in most of the North with the above temperatures. Therefore, the accuracy of the upcoming heat wave forecast is very high.
The intense heat of the early season can make many people unable to adapt, easily tired and have headaches. Therefore, people should take precautions when going out to protect themselves from the sun and avoid staying outdoors for long periods during the hottest times of the day (noon and afternoon).
