On many roads in the wards of Nha Trang area, the situation of telecommunication cables hanging haphazardly, sagging low, equipment installed incorrectly, excess cables, ownerless cables no longer in use but still clinging to electric poles. These tangled bundles of cables when in close contact or broken by storms, falling down pose a very high risk of short circuit and fire, especially in the dry season, not only threatening the safety of the power grid but also directly affecting the lives and property of people. It is worth mentioning that currently, there are more than 15 units and enterprises of telecommunications, Internet, and cable television jointly exploiting the electric pole infrastructure managed by PC Khanh Hoa . The rapid development of technology and services has caused a sudden increase in the amount of cables, while the management, handover and clearance of cables are not synchronized, leading to overlapping and loss of control. Faced with that situation, PC Khanh Hoa has developed a plan to renovate large-scale telecommunication cables, with the goal of completing by the end of 2025. This plan is implemented based on close coordination with functional agencies, local People's Committees and consensus from telecommunication network operators in the area.

Khanh Hoa Power Service Enterprise bundles telecommunication cables.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Luc - Deputy General Director of Khanh Hoa PC said that the work of arranging, arranging and bundling telecommunication cables will be carried out by the company in 2 phases and will end at the end of 2025. In which, phase 1 will be implemented with 3,602m of telecommunication cables (cable length) on 104 electric poles on Biet Thu, Hung Vuong, Nguyen Thien Thuat, Tran Quang Khai streets (Nha Trang ward). Phase 2 will be to arrange telecommunication cables in the wards: Nam Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang. In which, Khanh Hoa Power Service Enterprise (under Khanh Hoa PC) will coordinate with relevant departments of telecommunication network operators to carry out the work of arranging the lines managed by the Nha Trang Central Power Management Team with 349 poles, 11,184m of wire on the routes. The remaining part is managed and operated by Vinh Nguyen Power Management Team with a total length of 3,109m/90 poles; Vinh Hai Power Management Team manages and operates a total length of 5,196m/147 poles.

Speed up implementation

The campaign to renovate the telecommunications cable system is being implemented focusing on key areas with the highest population density and cable density. According to the commitment of PC Khanh Hoa, in 2025, a total of more than 23km of telecommunications cables on central streets will be bundled and arranged scientifically . This is a large amount of work, requiring smooth coordination and specialized technical resources.

According to Mr. Thai Minh Quang - Director of Khanh Hoa Power Service Enterprise, the core principle of the campaign is "to do it neatly". The construction unit will conduct the clearance and thoroughly cut off unused cables, telecommunication equipment, ownerless cables, or incorrectly installed cables. Next, the active information cables will be brought to one floor, raised to standard height, bundled, and fixed with specialized brackets and belts. Along with that, the construction unit will adjust the cables at intersections, ensuring a safe height according to regulations, at least 3.5 - 4m in alleys and 5 - 6m on national highways, to prevent the risk of people or vehicles colliding with the cables. This entire process is supported by specialized bucket trucks to bundle and lift the cables evenly according to height, ensuring both aesthetics and strict compliance with safety regulations when working on electric poles. In addition, the installation of cabinets, cable boxes, and identification cards is also standardized, in the correct position, at least 2.5m above the ground; spare cables are neatly wrapped and fixed behind the pole, contributing to ensuring aesthetics and safety.

When telecommunication cables are bundled, reducing the load on the pole and keeping them away from the power lines, the risk of short circuits and electric discharges will be eliminated, improving the safety and stability of the power grid, best serving the daily life and production of the province. More importantly, this work is a breakthrough in improving urban aesthetics. “With a commitment to have more than 23km of telecommunication cables renovated by the end of 2025, PC Khanh Hoa hopes to completely resolve the messy cable situation that has existed for many years. This will be a regular and continuous work, aiming at the goal of managing and operating the power grid safely and stably and ensuring a clean, beautiful and safe urban area for people and tourists. The company is committed to inspecting and strictly handling network operators who re-offend or install incorrectly after renovation, maintaining the achievements in the long term,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Tan Luc.
