What is especially heartbreaking is that sick people, the elderly, and children are deceived every day, forced to drink fake milk, fake medicine, and poor quality medicine that is advertised as a cure-all...
Faced with that situation, the Prime Minister issued a decisive order: Establish a special task force and launch a nationwide campaign to crack down on smuggling and counterfeit goods . This is not simply a campaign of inspections – but a strong statement of action by a Government that will not compromise with dishonesty and lawlessness.
This is also the time for the whole society to respond, because we cannot build a strong economy if the market foundation is hollowed out by lies. And we cannot have a strong country if decent people always lose on their own playing field.
The loss is not just material
Smuggling and counterfeit and poor quality goods cause great losses to the budget, stifle domestic production and erode investor confidence. But more seriously, it directly threatens public health – when fake drugs, dirty food and poor quality goods flood the market.
The persistent presence of counterfeit and smuggled goods is also a sign that the law is being challenged, the management order is loosened and business ethics are being eroded. If consumers no longer know what to trust, if honest businesses are being overtaken by "quick-witted, cunning" ones, what is left to talk about a healthy economy?
Decisive action of the leader
The Prime Minister not only requested strict handling but also personally launched a nationwide emulation movement, assigning specific tasks to each locality and each ministry. A special task force was established, and interdisciplinary inspection teams will go to the site, urge and handle responsibilities if localities allow laxity to occur.
This peak campaign is not about "catching a few cases to gain achievements", but about changing the approach: from passive reaction to proactive crackdown, from individual handling to system coordination, from fighting by case to fighting with institutions, technology and culture.
Fighting smuggling and counterfeiting is not only by coercion.
It is true that those who assist in smuggling and counterfeiting must be severely punished, even criminally prosecuted. But if we only use coercive measures, we will only touch the surface. To eradicate the problem, we must fight it with culture, kindness, education and communication.
Right from school, students need to learn about consumer culture, the value of genuine products, and ethics in production and business. In the community, honest producers need to be honored and responsible consumption encouraged. In every family, every mother and father needs to teach their children to distinguish right from wrong from a product packaging.
A nation is truly strong only when good behavior becomes the norm and bad behavior is not tolerated.
Consumers are the first line of defense
No one can counterfeit without consumers willing to buy fake goods. Therefore, the role of consumers is key. A smart, knowledgeable consumer community with a firm attitude of saying no to fake, counterfeit, and poor quality goods will make all fraudulent acts unprofitable.
Consumers need access to transparent information, tools to trace origins, and compare prices and quality. And above all, they need self-respect and civic spirit – because buying counterfeit goods not only harms you but also contributes to crime.
Can't put all the blame on the government
The government, no matter how strong, needs the support of ministries, sectors, localities, organizations and people in this fight. Social organizations, especially consumer protection associations, industry associations, the press and media networks need to play a more proactive role.
There needs to be a large-scale media campaign on ethical consumption. There needs to be community supervision of smuggling rings. And there needs to be a mechanism for social organizations to propose policies, criticize institutional loopholes and support consumers when their rights are violated.
For an honest business environment and sustainable development
This campaign to crack down on smuggling and counterfeit goods – if carried out seriously and synchronously – will not only eliminate a series of violations, but more importantly, will restore trust in the market and the law.
The government has sent a clear signal. The entire political system needs to get involved. And more importantly, every citizen, every business, every social organization needs to act together for a common goal: Creating an honest business environment, a transparent market and a country with sustainable development from cultural roots to institutional superstructure.
It's not just a crackdown. It's a moral market renewal. And that's what this country desperately needs to enter a new era.
