Red Sunday in Yen Bai received nearly 700 units of blood

TPO - On the morning of March 3, at the Multi-purpose Hall, Nguyen Hue High School, Yen Bai province, the 16th Red Sunday program in 2024 took place, spreading the message "Donate blood to save lives - Your life and mine". The program attracted more than 700 blood donation registrations in just one morning.

Responding to the 16th Red Sunday program, Tien Phong Newspaper coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and Yen Bai Provincial Youth Union to organize the voluntary blood donation program "Donate blood to save lives - Your life and mine".

Although the weather is cold, hundreds of young people have come to register to donate blood and spread the message of the 16th Red Sunday in 2024 since early morning.

Mr. Nguyen Song Hao - Deputy Director of Yen Bai Provincial Department of Health said: "The humanitarian blood donation program has been implemented for many years in Yen Bai province. The amount of blood from the voluntary program has provided and met the increasing demand for blood in emergency and medical treatment in the province. Voluntary blood donation activities help many patients have the opportunity to be treated, many critically ill patients have been saved from this precious blood source."

"Blood is something that cannot be synthesized or produced, while the demand for blood in the province is increasing. Therefore, the blood donation movement needs to be spread and expanded further," said Mr. Nguyen Song Hao.

The coordination and preparation for the blood donation program took place quickly with the contribution of many units.

The blood sample of the registrant will be tested before donating blood to ensure safety.

Because the weather is quite cold, it is necessary to keep body temperature stable to ensure the health of blood donors.

At the Red Sunday event held in Yen Bai province this year, attracting a large number of youth union members in the city, the province's business sector and armed forces also volunteered and were ready to donate blood.

Not only did the youth union members in agencies and businesses donate blood, but many people, upon hearing about the Red Sunday program, braved the cold early in the morning to donate blood.

Dinh Thi Thu Hue - an employee of LPBank shared: "This is the first time I have donated blood so I am quite nervous. I find blood donation a very meaningful activity because the drops of blood I donate can help many people like the message "a drop of blood given, a life left behind". I think, in addition to studying and working well, young people should also actively participate in humanitarian activities like this."

The Red Sunday voluntary blood donation program is an annual activity initiated by Tien Phong Newspaper and implemented in many provinces and cities across the country. The program has become an event of profound humanitarian significance, increasingly having a profound influence on the community.
