Despite his busy work schedule, donating blood to save patients has always been a responsibility, a joy, and a source of happiness for Mr. Van Thai Trong.
Recalling his first time donating blood, Mr. Trong expressed: "The first time I was encouraged to donate blood, I was very scared. I didn't know if donating blood would affect my health, and I felt very nervous and anxious. But, after that first donation, and seeing poor patients undergoing treatment who lacked blood and didn't have blood transfusions… it motivated me, like a strength, to continue participating in blood donations in the future. And to date, I have donated blood 19 times. Honestly, the feeling now is no longer as scary as before, but natural…"

Older sister Dinh Thi Nhan, from An Long commune, said: "I saw Mr. Trong donate blood many times. Through Mr. Trong's encouragement, I followed his example and volunteered to donate blood to save lives. To date, I have also participated in blood donation 15 times."
At 34 years old and unmarried, Mr. Trong remains sharp, agile, and enthusiastic about his assigned duties. He regularly participates in community activities, sports, and exercise in his local area to maintain good health, enabling him to continue donating blood and encouraging others to do the same to save lives. Mr. Trong's humanitarian blood donation has been widely known and admired.
Mr. Van Thai Trong candidly stated: "Regular blood donation has benefits such as: health monitoring, check-ups, and consultations; reducing iron overload in the body; helping to regenerate new blood and contributing to reducing the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease… Each time I donate blood, it goes to the blood banks of hospitals to save patients who need blood. I wish to have good health so that I can continue to donate blood to save lives."
With a record of 19 voluntary blood donations, Mr. Van Thai Trong has been honored and rewarded. Most notably, he received two commendations from the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Dong Thap province. However, Mr. Trong remains very humble, stating that he never thought of his actions as a means to gain recognition, but rather acted according to his conscience, responsibility, and a desire to contribute his small efforts to community health and social welfare.
