Hai Phong proactively provides blood for treatment during Tet

The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hai Phong City has increased propaganda activities and expanded the scope of organizing blood donation festivals.

According to statistics, from December 1, 2024 to December 1, 2025, the Blood Donation Steering Committee of Hai Phong city received 61,195 units of blood, exceeding the target by nearly 1,000 units of blood.

In mid-November, the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival took place enthusiastically at LG Innotek Vietnam Hai Phong Co., Ltd. (Trang Due Industrial Park).

According to Mr. Park Hong Keun, General Director, representative of LG Innotek Vietnam Hai Phong Co., Ltd., the third time the voluntary blood donation program "Giọt hồng Innotek" was organized, it showed an increasingly large spread in the enterprise when the number of Korean and Vietnamese officials, experts and workers registering to donate blood increased, and the amount of donated blood collected was larger than before.

In the coming time, the company will continue to add slogans such as "Donating blood to save lives is a noble act", "Please participate in donating blood to save lives at the company"...

At universities and colleges in the city, voluntary blood donation has become a regularly maintained movement, carried out in many flexible forms.

In November alone, more than 3,000 units of blood were mobilized and received thanks to the widespread and timely implementation of voluntary blood donation activities in the community and schools. Typically at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam Maritime University, Hai Phong Medical College, Maritime and Waterway College 1.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Hung, Vice Principal of Hai Phong Medical College, every year the school regularly maintains two voluntary blood donation sessions at the end of the school year and at the end of the year. In order to collect a total amount of donated blood exceeding the target by 20-30% set by the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, the school assigns lecturers to be in charge of motivating and propagating to each class and student interest club.

At Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the program "Pink Drops, White Blouse" is implemented regularly every 3 months, contributing to improving the efficiency of repeated blood donation of lecturers and students. Each time, about 500 - 700 units of blood are collected. In total, each year the program is implemented, 2,200 - 2,500 units of blood are collected.

In addition, the fixed blood donation point at Vietnam Maritime University operates every Thursday and is held twice a month. The fixed blood donation point not only attracts staff, lecturers, students, volunteers, but also a large number of alumni and workers living nearby to donate blood.

Proactive, ready

The period before the New Year, after the Lunar New Year, is often the time when there is a shortage of donated blood and a shortage of reserves. To proactively prevent this situation, the Hai Phong City Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee has implemented many synchronous solutions.

According to Mr. Pham Tuan Vu, Head of the Hai Duong Youth Blood Donation Club, under the guidance and direction of the City's Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee, the club organized a training program on blood donation communication, safe blood transfusion, and the process of organizing a complete Blood Donation Festival for union members, youth, and union officials of Brother Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. (Phuc Dien Industrial Park), Ford Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Viet Hoa Ward)...

The club also plans to organize a voluntary blood donation festival in Viet Hoa ward, Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy in December 2025 and early January 2026, before students go on Tet holiday and workers return home.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Anh, Head of the Hoa Phuong Blood Donation Volunteer Club, informed that in December 2025, the club will increase information on zalo groups, reminding members who are eligible to participate in blood donation reminders. On the other hand, the club will increase blood donation campaigns at shopping centers, associated with year-end events that often attract a large number of people to visit such as: Black Friday Shopping Day, Merry Christmas... integrating gift giving activities, medical examination, giving promotional vouchers and free dental care.

The Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center (Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital) also developed a systematic, thorough, scientific and timely blood collection coordination plan.

With the goal of constantly expanding the scope and increasing the rate of people participating in first-time and repeat blood donations, Mr. Bui Manh Phuc, Chairman of the Hai Phong Red Cross Society, said: The City Society continues to be proactive and coordinate with the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center (Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital) to receive registrations and build a monthly blood donation schedule. At the same time, the time and location of the Blood Donation Days will be publicized on Fanpages, groups, etc.

To prepare for the voluntary blood donation plan for the upcoming Lunar New Year, the City Red Cross has specifically and detailedly assigned tasks, recruited additional volunteers, and prepared facilities and human resources to ensure safety in blood donation and ensure blood reserves.
