According to La Liga president Javier Tebas, Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG this summer and Real Madrid has the ability to attract the French striker.
"I hope Mbappe will go to La Liga," Tebas told Spanish newspaper Marca on June 16. "If you ask me as a fan, I think Mbappe will leave PSG this summer, because UEFA has more financial control. Mbappe is on a very high salary and PSG is forced to reduce the workload. I think Real have the ability to make this contract."

In the summer of 2021, when Mbappe had one year left on his old contract with PSG, Real was willing to pay more than 200 million USD to recruit the French striker but was rejected. Mbappe wanted to move to Real to play football as a free agent in the summer of 2022, and he did not hide this intention. But at the end of May, right before the transfer window opened, Mbappe renewed his contract with PSG.
This summer, the 2018 World Cup winner's future became a hot issue again when he confirmed that he would not activate the option to extend his contract by one more year, until the summer of 2025. This means that the 24-year-old striker can leave PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
PSG are said to be angry with this decision and are willing to let Mbappe leave in the summer of 2023 if they receive a transfer fee of 150 million euros (over 160 million USD). According to French newspaper L'Équipe , Real are ready to meet this amount as they need to strengthen their attack after captain Karim Benzema joined Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad. They once considered Harry Kane as the best alternative, but did not want to pay too high a fee for a player who is about to turn 30 and has only one year left on his contract with Tottenham.
Another PSG player who was rumored to be heading to La Liga this summer was Lionel Messi, with Barca as a possible destination. But the Argentine star ended his time in Europe to join MLS club Inter Miami, the team of former player David Beckham.
Admitting that Messi's absence is a big blow to La Liga, Tebas believes Barca will make other big moves in the transfer market. "I'm sure Barca will bring in great players, although I wish Messi would come back," he said.

La Liga’s president also said the league’s economic situation is in good shape and has been improving since the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. La Liga’s revenue increased by 11% to $3.5 billion in the 2021-2022 season, but that was less than half of the Premier League’s, which increased by 12% to a record of more than $7 billion in the 2021-2022 season.
