Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky acted bravely and sacrificed himself to save people from drowning.
Previously, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, decided to posthumously promote officer Truong Hong Ky from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
At 4:30 p.m. on September 1, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky, while inspecting the areas, arrived at Dong Be beach in Vinh Hoa hamlet, Xuan Thinh commune, Song Cau town and discovered two people swept away from shore by waves.
Immediately, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky quickly swam out to save the people. After successfully rescuing two people, due to the big waves, Mr. Ky was swept away by the waves and was exhausted and could not swim to shore. He was discovered by local people, brought to shore, given first aid and transferred to the medical center but did not survive.
Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky was born on September 2, 1981, enlisted in March 2002, has a wife and 2 young children. His family currently lives in Long Hai Bac quarter, Xuan Yen ward, Song Cau town, Phu Yen province.
