President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba begins visit to Vietnam

On the morning of November 2, President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (Chairman of the National Assembly) Esteban Lazo Hernandez led a delegation of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba to Hanoi , starting a working visit to Vietnam from November 2-3, 2024, at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Welcoming the President of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba and the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Vu Hai Ha, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén. Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez was born on February 26, 1944, in Jovellanos district, Matanzas province, Republic of Cuba. In 1961, he joined the Cuban Revolutionary Militia and was a member of the Revolutionary Defense Committee (CDR) in 1962. In 1963, he joined the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC); was a member of the Accounting Committee (CPC) in the City of Jovellanos, in charge of education in 1964. In 1968, he was Secretary of the City Party Committee in San Pedro de Mayabón (Los Arabos); was Chief of the Organizing Committee of the Regional Bureau in Colón in 1969. In 1971, Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez was Chief of the Organizing Committee in the Province of Mantanzas. In 1979, he was a provincial delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture in Mantanzas, a member of the Provincial Party Committee Office. From 1980 to 1981, he was Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Mantanzas, and a National Assembly Delegate. From 1986 to 1994, he was Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Santiago de Cuba; Vice President of the Council of State from 1992 to 2013. He was Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of La Habana from 1994 to 2013. From 2003 to present, he has been a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
On February 24, 2013, he was elected President of the National Assembly at the 8th National Assembly. On April 18, 2018, he continued to hold the position of President of the National Assembly for the second term at the 9th National Assembly. From April 19, 2023 to present, he continues to hold the position of President of the 10th National Assembly of Cuba.
