Also attending were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, ministries, branches, leaders of Can Tho City and agencies and units directly involved in organizing the Conference and Forum.

The APF Executive Board Meeting and the Francophone Parliamentary Cooperation Forum on sustainable agriculture, food security and climate change response, along with related events, will be held in Can Tho City from January 21-24, 2025.

This is a dual event, together with the Executive Committee Conference, for the first time an APF member parliament has initiated the organization of a Parliamentary Forum on Francophone cooperation with topical discussion topics of great interest to many parliaments of the countries, such as sustainable agriculture, food security and climate change.

The Forum's thematic discussions on "Francophone cooperation in the field of sustainable agriculture", "The Francophone community and food security" and "Sharing experiences in responding to climate change" recorded many opinions, including exchanges and sharing of experiences, as well as many valuable proposals and recommendations on the Forum's theme.

Through discussions, delegates attending the Conference reached common perceptions, recorded in the Can Tho Declaration on Francophone cooperation in the fields of sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change response , demonstrating the determination, high consensus, and strong commitment of Francophone parliamentarians in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals and joining hands to solve global issues and challenges.

The APF Executive Committee Meeting and Forum attracted the participation of nearly 200 international delegates, including parliamentary leaders, APF Executive Committee members, Francophone parliamentarians from different continents and Ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic agencies, representatives of several development partners and international organizations. The APF Secretariat said that it is rare to have such a large number of Executive Committee members, especially parliamentary leaders who hardly appear at the Mid-term Executive Committee Meeting, but at this meeting, there was the participation of the President of the Moroccan House of Representatives and the President of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The bilateral meetings on the sidelines between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders of the Vietnamese National Assembly with the participating delegations have brought about practical results, contributing to enhancing the role and position of the host country and promoting bilateral relations, especially with important partners such as neighbors, strategic partners as well as countries with which we have little opportunity to interact.

Among the delegations that have been contacted, there are many delegations from remote geographical areas and difficult conditions from Africa, State-level Sub-Committees... that rarely have the opportunity to visit and contact Vietnam; contributing to the effective implementation of bilateral diplomacy combined with multilateral diplomacy.

Many delegations highly appreciated Vietnam's impressive achievements in the renovation process and expressed their desire to develop cooperative relations with Vietnam in the fields of legislation, agricultural development, food security and especially climate change response.

Speaking at the closing conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai - Head of the Organizing Committee of the APF Executive Committee Conference emphasized that the success of the agenda, delegates and scale of the event affirmed the role and active, responsible and proactive participation of the Vietnamese National Assembly at the APF in particular and the Inter-Parliamentary Forums in general.

This is also a practical activity to implement Directive No. 25-CT/TW of the Secretariat of the 12th Party Central Committee on promoting and enhancing multilateral diplomacy until 2030; implementing the National Assembly's foreign affairs orientation for the 15th tenure and until 2030. Along with that, the pioneering role, leading activities within the framework of the Francophone parliament in the Asia-Pacific region of the Vietnamese National Assembly, emphasizes the position and role of Vietnam.

According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, the organization and operation of the discussion and exchange sessions were scientific, and the documents, interpretation and services met the standards of a large and important international conference.

Also within the framework of the Forum and the APF Executive Committee Conference, delegates visited some typical locations for sustainable agricultural development, ensuring people's livelihoods in response to climate change; visited exhibition booths introducing the achievements of sustainable agricultural development in the Mekong Delta.

To welcome delegates from all continents to attend the Forum and Conference on the occasion of Tet, Can Tho city organized a Spring Flower Festival and cultural activities, recreating the traditional Tet space of the South..., contributing to creating a vibrant, rich and successful event; helping to spread the fundamental human values ​​of the Francophone space with cultural diversity, solidarity and inclusive development.

"Therefore, the APF event held in Can Tho left a deep impression on international delegates, and is an important highlight of APF activities in 2025." Emphasizing this, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also shared that at APF activities, APF parliamentarians repeatedly expressed their gratitude to the Vietnamese National Assembly and the thoughtful organization of the host country as well as their admiration for Vietnam's achievements in economic, cultural and social development. The Head of the Asia-Pacific region, the New Caledonia parliamentarian at the February 2025 Regional Sub-Committee Chairmen's Meeting, reiterated, " I have been back home for a month, but my heart and mind are still in Vietnam ."

Looking back at the organization of the Conference, Forum and events within the framework of the Conference and Forum, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly had made very careful and comprehensive preparations for the organization of the Conference, covering all aspects of content, information, communications, security, logistics, healthcare, and reception with detailed plans and projects.

With a huge amount of work taking place during the preparation period for the spring festival with many activities of agencies, the organization work was ensured, without any errors or incidents. The Organizing Committee was also flexible and skillful in handling arising situations, the logistics work was specifically deployed, ensuring adequate material conditions for the activities of the Conference.

Agencies and units have also actively coordinated with APF, diplomatic missions, parliaments of countries and relevant parties in the preparation process to ensure the best results of the organization. The team of volunteers is qualified, meets the requirements and actively supports international delegates.
