Focus on economic diplomacy, promote the signing of free trade agreements

At the conference, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the results achieved in the first 6 months of 2025 and set out tasks and goals to be achieved in the last 6 months of 2025. Also at the conference, representatives of leaders of ministries, branches, heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, People's Committees of provinces and cities, and agencies and business associations contributed many ideas to contribute to the implementation of the economic growth target in the last 6 months of 2025.

In addition, in Dong Thap province, in recent years, Dong Thap's economy has maintained a growth rate, especially export turnover has recorded high growth. Key products such as agricultural and aquatic products, rice, shrimp crackers and processed and manufactured industrial products including: common metals (including copper pipes), garments, footwear of all kinds, iron and steel and iron and steel products, handbags, plastic products, textile fibers of all kinds... have all achieved many positive results.

International integration continues to be implemented with activities to update knowledge about trade agreements and market information being promoted to protect businesses from global economic fluctuations. The province's businesses are increasingly dynamic and proactive in integration to welcome new opportunities and challenges; boldly setting goals to participate in global distribution systems through traditional channels and e-commerce. At the same time, trade promotion and foreign market search activities are being promoted to boost export growth.

In general, in the first 6 months of 2025, Dong Thap province's export turnover is estimated at 4,443 million USD, up 12.79% over the same period last year, reaching 48.3% of the annual plan (plan of 9,200 million USD). Import turnover is estimated at 2,494 million USD, up 47.17% over the same period, reaching 56.3% of the plan (plan of 4,430 million USD). At the same time, the province has focused on improving the investment and business environment, promoting administrative procedure reform, implementing international cooperation activities in many fields, creating favorable conditions for attracting investment.

In the coming time, Dong Thap province will continue to implement and closely follow the policies and orientations of the Party and State in foreign affairs and international integration; take advantage of diplomatic channels to deepen relations with neighboring countries and countries with traditional relations and cooperation with the province, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development tasks of the province.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and commended the results achieved in promoting economic growth in the first 6 months of 2025. At the same time, the Prime Minister announced a number of achievements such as: The economic development situation of our country is basically stable; inflation is controlled; economic growth is promoted; sufficient energy for production, business, and consumption; the labor market is basically good, meeting the requirements of transformation; security, order, independence and sovereignty are maintained; foreign affairs results are going well...

In addition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the following issues: Requesting Ambassadors to grasp the local and regional situation well, thereby forecasting, assessing and proposing solutions to avoid surprising the Party and State leaders in foreign affairs; ensuring the country's common goal of creating a peaceful environment, cooperation and development; ensuring the growth target of over 8% in 2025. Promoting diplomatic relations in the direction of building an independent, diversified, multilateral diplomacy as good friends, a reliable partner with all countries in the world, a responsible member of the international community.
