
According to the Department of Fisheries - Sea and Islands of Quang Ngai province, this year, the whole province is estimated to have more than 2,530 hectares of aquaculture, of which 380 hectares are brackish water aquaculture and more than 2,150 hectares are freshwater aquaculture. In addition, in recent years, cage farming activities at sea have developed, focusing on near-shore farming, mainly in Ly Son special zone, Sa Huynh ward, with an area of more than 17 hectares. The total volume of cages at sea in 2025 is estimated to reach more than 156 thousand cubic meters, with an estimated output of 480 tons; the main farming objects are cobia, pompano, grouper, and oysters.
Currently, many aquaculture households are renovating ponds, cages and rafts to raise shrimp and fish to serve the Tet market. According to the owners, each year only during the Tet season is the best selling season, with high profits, so many households make efforts to take care of fish and shrimp to increase productivity and ensure product quality to serve the market.
