Join hands to fight the danger of plastic pollution

The United Nations chose the theme 'Fighting plastic pollution' to call on the world to clearly recognize the harmful effects and join hands to repel the dangers of plastic pollution.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment spoke at the launching ceremony in response to World Environment Day.

On the afternoon of June 4, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Women's Union, and the People's Committee of Tu Ky district jointly organized a launch in response to World Environment Day (June 5), the 2025 Environmental Action Month with the global theme "Fighting plastic pollution".

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized that the theme "Fighting plastic pollution" chosen by the United Nations this year is not only a call but also an urgent global warning. Plastic waste is very little recycled, the rest is buried or burned, causing damage to resources, the environment and public health. Therefore, every small action today is the beginning of big changes in the future, so that each citizen becomes a companion of the environment, each community is a sustainable link in the green ecosystem.

Representatives of Best Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Binh Nguyen Environmental Development Joint Stock Company donated 500 compost bins to Tu Ky district.

At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Hai Duong Provincial Environmental Protection Fund presented 700 kg of biological products; Best Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Binh Nguyen Environmental Development JSC presented 500 compost bins; Pacific Crystal Textile Co., Ltd. and Hoang Thanh Co., Ltd. presented 200 compost bins to Tu Ky district.

In recent times, Tu Ky district has always paid attention to environmental protection with practical actions such as: reducing household waste, wastewater from craft villages; treating, classifying, and collecting household waste at the source, pesticide packaging, and reducing plastic waste... However, during the development process, household and production waste has not been thoroughly treated, and plastic waste, especially plastic bags, is increasing...

A performance by children at the launching ceremony

In the coming time, the district will implement solutions to reduce plastic waste, especially disposable nylon. Classify waste at source; reuse and recycle waste; strengthen propaganda and education on environmental protection awareness in communities, schools, organizations, and craft villages; promote the application of clean production models, organic agriculture, and circular economy. Specialized agencies of the district, communes, and towns coordinate to closely inspect and monitor environmental protection activities and strictly handle acts that cause pollution.

World Environment Day, held annually on June 5, is not only an opportunity to raise awareness but also a strong call to action, to join hands to solve urgent environmental problems; promote sustainable solutions, from reducing pollution to protecting biodiversity, creating a global community committed to a healthier planet...
