The colorful book festival

The Khanh Hoa Book Festival, held at the Provincial Library, was not large in scale but attracted the attention of many people, especially children. Here, people could not only learn about books and reading culture but also participate in other interesting activities.

Multiple experiential spaces

Taking place from June 6th to 10th, the Khanh Hoa Book Festival is part of a series of activities in response to the 2025 Sea Culture and Tourism Festival. Here, people can participate in meaningful activities. There are experience corners for exploring science , robotics, painting, calligraphy instruction, Dong Ho painting printing, English public speaking competitions, chess tournaments, and more. Young children are guided by older children on how to sift sand to find colored stones, create sand paintings, and practice calligraphy. They are also introduced to fossil specimens dating back thousands of years and stories related to extinct creatures, and are taught how to assemble and control simple Robocon robots to perform tasks like stacking blocks and picking up plastic balls. “This is the first time I’ve ever sifted through sand to find stones myself. This helps me develop dexterity, keen observation skills, and a little patience to find the right stone,” said Dang Khoa (a third-grade student at Phuong Sai Primary School).

To add vibrancy to the book festival, the organizers invited writers Mi Dung and Dang Thien Phong to talk with readers on the theme "You Shine, I Cheer You On" to spread reading culture and love for books; they also invited lecturer Vo Thi Thanh Kieu (Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City) and doctor Nguyen Van Xang to share interesting information, memories, and lessons related to books. Through these discussions, stories of professions and lives were revealed, inspiring everyone, especially young people. Readers interested in literature and folklore could also participate in the "EQ Literature" space with activities such as art creation, painting characters on bamboo trays, and sewing with scraps of fabric, helping them learn new skills and encouraging creative thinking. Film screenings and cultural performances also contributed to the lively atmosphere of the book festival.

The main space of the book festival consists of 18 booths displaying, introducing, and selling books from publishers, book distribution companies, universities, and provincial libraries. This year's festival attracted participation from businesses and organizations such as: Phuong Nam Retail Co., Ltd.; Sbooks Joint Stock Company; Mee & More Co., Ltd.; FPT Corporation; Khanh Hoa University; Ton Duc Thang University; Nha Trang Central Pedagogical College; and libraries from the provinces and cities of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Thai Nguyen, and Khanh Hoa. Through this, visitors are offered a diverse and rich selection of books, presented in impressive and visually appealing formats. “Ninh Thuan Provincial Library participated in the Khanh Hoa Book Festival with information resources about the culture, geography, homeland, country, and people of Ninh Thuan. To impress visitors, in our booth, we arranged books into a model of the Ninh Thuan Museum – a symbol of Ninh Thuan province. I think organizing a book festival like this is very meaningful in spreading reading culture, as students and people have the opportunity to experience and learn about books, as well as book-related activities. Although the Khanh Hoa Book Festival is not large in scale, the way it is organized is good and systematic,” said Mr. Dinh Xuan Huong, Director of Ninh Thuan Provincial Library.

At the book stalls, visitors have access to a wide variety of books, from local history, classical literature, science, travelogues to self-help books. There, you can find photo books about Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa; children's comics; Vietnamese literature; books about Champa culture; books about the culture and famous people of the local area… All are displayed in an open, friendly, and attractively designed space. Through this, visitors can learn more about the land, culture, and people of the locality. “We came to the Khanh Hoa Book Festival to see books about the localities, including Khanh Hoa province. These are books that are very difficult to find in bookstores, so this is a good opportunity for me to read and take pictures of the pages with the content I need,” said Dieu Linh (a 11th-grade student at Hermann Gmeiner High School in Nha Trang).

According to Mr. Dang Quoc Van, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Khanh Hoa Book Festival 2025, with the message "Spreading culture - connecting the community," is a cultural meeting point for book lovers, a place to honor the value of books, contributing to spreading the habit of reading and developing the reading culture movement in the community. In addition, the book festival is also an opportunity for people and visitors to learn about the cultural beauty and people of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. This book festival will serve as a foundation for future book festivals to be held annually and on a larger scale.
