Colors of the Book Festival

Khanh Hoa Book Festival held at the Provincial Library, although not large in scale, has received the attention of many people, especially children. Coming here, people not only learn about things related to books and reading culture, but can also participate in other interesting activities.

Many spaces to experience

Taking place from June 6 to 10, the Khanh Hoa Book Festival is an activity in a series of activities in response to the 2025 Sea Culture - Tourism Festival. Coming here, everyone can participate in meaningful activities. There are corners for experience, scientific discovery, robotics, painting, calligraphy instruction, Dong Ho painting printing, English speaking contest, chess competition... Children coming here are guided by older brothers and sisters on how to sift sand to find colored stones, how to make sand paintings, or write calligraphy. They are also introduced to fossil specimens dating back thousands of years and stories related to extinct creatures, or are instructed on how to assemble and control simple robocon to perform the task of stacking blocks and picking up plastic balls. “This is the first time I have ever sifted sand to find stones. This helps me practice skillful hand movements combined with quick observation and a little patience to find my own stone,” said Dang Khoa (3rd grade student at Phuong Sai Primary School).

To add color to the book festival, the organizers invited writers Mi Dung and Dang Thien Phong to talk with readers on the topic "You shine, I cheer" to spread the reading culture and love for books; invited lecturer Vo Thi Thanh Kieu (Van Lang University , Ho Chi Minh City), doctor Nguyen Van Xang to exchange and share information, memories, and interesting lessons related to books. Through the exchange sessions, stories of careers and life were revealed and inspired everyone, especially young people. Readers who love to learn about literature and folk culture can also participate in the "EQ Literature" space with activities of creating art, painting the faces of Tuong characters on bamboo trays, hand-sewing scraps of fabric..., helping children learn more skills, as well as encouraging creative thinking. Movie screenings or art performances also contributed to creating a vibrant atmosphere for the book festival.

Meeting place for book lovers

The main space of the book festival is 18 booths displaying, introducing and selling books of publishers, book distribution companies, universities and provincial libraries. In this festival, the organizing committee has attracted the participation of businesses and units such as: Phuong Nam Retail Company Limited; Sbooks Joint Stock Company; Mee & More Company Limited; FPT Company; Khanh Hoa University; Ton Duc Thang University; Nha Trang Central Pedagogical College; Libraries of provinces and cities: Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Thai Nguyen and Khanh Hoa. Through that, it brings visitors a variety of books, rich in content, impressive and beautiful display forms. “Ninh Thuan Provincial Library participates in the Khanh Hoa Book Festival with information resources about culture, geography, homeland, country, and people of Ninh Thuan. To impress visitors, in our booth, we arranged books into a model of the Ninh Thuan Museum - a symbol of Ninh Thuan province. I think organizing a book festival like this is very meaningful in spreading the reading culture when students and people have the opportunity to experience and learn about books, as well as book-related activities. Although the Khanh Hoa Book Festival is not large in scale, the organization is good and methodical”, said Mr. Dinh Xuan Huong - Director of Ninh Thuan Provincial Library.

At the book stalls, people have access to many types of books, from geography books, classical literature, science, travelogues to life skills books. There, we see photo books about Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa; comics for children; Vietnamese literature books; books about Champa culture; books about local culture and celebrities... All are displayed in an open, friendly space with eye-catching designs. Through that, visitors can learn more about the land, culture and local people. "We came to the Khanh Hoa Book Festival to see books about localities, including Khanh Hoa province. These are books that are very difficult to find in bookstores, so this is a good opportunity for me to read and take pictures of pages with the content I need", said Dieu Linh (11th grade student at Hermann Gmeiner Nha Trang High School).

According to Mr. Dang Quoc Van - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Khanh Hoa Book Festival 2025 with the message "Spreading culture - connecting the community" is a cultural meeting place for book lovers, a place to honor the value of books, contributing to spreading the habit of reading and developing the reading culture movement in the community. In addition, the book festival is also an opportunity for people and visitors to learn about the cultural beauty and people of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. From this book festival, it will be a premise to be able to hold future book festivals on a more annual and larger scale.
