With the goal of taking care of people's health, especially improving physical condition, stature, and preventing malnutrition in children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has responsibly participated, organized many practical activities, bringing clear results for children aged 0-5 years old.
In the mountainous district of Tien Yen, where many ethnic minorities live, the District Women's Union has implemented a series of programs to promote, advise and support families with young children. Specifically, the Women's Union of Dien Xa commune regularly organizes communication sessions on preventing malnutrition and improving children's health. Thereby, women are equipped with knowledge about proper nutrition, how to care for children according to the seasons and each stage of development. This is an important foundation to help mothers have more scientific child-rearing skills, suitable for the living conditions of the ethnic minorities.
Not only stopping at propaganda, Tien Yen District Women's Union also mobilized charitable organizations and individuals to donate fresh milk and nutritional products to families in difficult circumstances.
Ms. Vang Thi Do, Tien Hai village, Dien Xa commune is a woman in difficult circumstances. Every day, she makes a living by farming with low income. With a life of poverty, milk for her children is a luxury. Thanks to the support from the Association and philanthropists, her children receive free milk, are educated about nutrition and have regular health checks. This is a great source of encouragement, helping Ms. Do and many other families to be more confident in their journey of caring for their children.
Ms. Vang Thi Do said: “I have never bought milk for my child to drink because I only have enough money to pay for simple meals. Now that my child has received milk to drink, I am very happy. With milk to drink, my child will surely be less stunted.”
In Ba Che district, last April, the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the District Women's Union to organize large-scale training courses for union officials and women of childbearing age. Here, trainees were provided with in-depth knowledge of nutrition for pregnant mothers and young children, thereby raising awareness and changing behaviors in family nutrition care. The training content not only covered theory but also provided practical guidance such as designing daily menus to ensure adequate energy and balanced nutrients suitable to local conditions.
The training courses also create a forum for exchanging experiences, helping women in the highlands identify cultural and habitual barriers in child care; at the same time, encourage the practice of model meals at home and school. Thereby, contributing to reducing the rate of malnutrition in children under 5 years old in remote communes.
Through specific activities, the Quang Ninh Women's Union at all levels has clearly demonstrated its core role in implementing Project 7. Not only simply being propagandists, they are also community connectors, bridges between the government, health care and families, ensuring that all policies and support reach the right people and the right subjects.
It can be affirmed that the active participation of Women's Unions at all levels is a bright spot in the implementation of Project 7 in Quang Ninh. Each nutritional gift, each communication session, each training class not only brings knowledge but also spreads love, creating a foundation for the physical and mental development of future generations of children in mountainous and border areas.
In the coming time, along with continuing to improve the effectiveness of Project 7 implementation, the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province will continue to promote its role and create more sustainable intervention models, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the province's Resolution 06-NQ/TU on people's health care and improving the quality of human resources in ethnic minority areas.
