The concert program “For Ever After” was directed by the Department of Political Work, Ministry of Public Security , Ho Guom Theater in coordination with theaters and artists to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Forces; 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection and the 95th birthday of musician Hoang Van.
Within the framework of the program, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, UNESCO representatives and musician Hoang Van's family coordinated to organize the Ceremony to receive the UNESCO Certificate recognizing the collection of works by musician Hoang Van as a World Documentary Heritage.
Moved to receive the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage certificate with her family, Dr. Le Y Linh - daughter of musician Hoang Van respectfully thanked the Party and State leaders who attended the ceremony and witnessed this touching moment with the musician's family. Dr. Le Y Linh also thanked the agencies and individuals who have always accompanied the musician's family throughout the process of building the dossier to submit to UNESCO; thanked the Department of Political Work, Ministry of Public Security, Ho Guom Theater for organizing the art program "For Forever" and thanked the sponsors who accompanied the program's Organizing Committee.
Dr. Le Y Linh shared: “Besides the pride and emotion, we are aware of our duty to continue to strengthen the protection and promotion of the value of the collection according to UNESCO criteria. The inscription also encourages me to continue my research on the works of other composers of our father’s time, who contributed to the formation of Vietnamese classical music in the second half of the 20th century”.
According to Ho Guom Theater, "For Ever After" is a program to honor the audience who have loved the music of musician Hoang Van for more than half a century. Therefore, the Organizing Committee wants to introduce in a deep, selective and highly artistic way - a complete musical portrait of him: From instrumental music, choral music, to art songs and even works that have never been performed or have lost recordings, or have lost their scores from more than half a century ago.
The program consists of two parts, corresponding to two major periods in the composition of musician Hoang Van, leading along the flow of emotions - from solemnity and heroism, to contemplation and contemplation, to end with joy towards the future.
Part I, titled "Reminiscence", opens up a musical picture of the resistance and war period. In Part I, the artists introduced to the audience selected works, recalling historical milestones and future aspirations recorded in the sounds of the composer's own life, including "Symphony No. II" and "Remembrance" (Chapter I).
One of the emotional highlights of the program was the musical composition of the poem “Canh khuy” (Night Scene) by President Ho Chi Minh, restored by conductor Le Phi Phi from the author’s original text. In addition, there were revolutionary songs that have stood the test of time such as: “I am a miner”, “That soldier”, “The song of transportation”. In particular, the work “Quang Binh, my homeland” was renewed with the combination of the moon lute by People’s Artist Co Huy Hung and the symphony orchestra.
Part II with the theme “For the Future” began when the country was at peace. This is not only a space to honor the music of musician Hoang Van but also a testament to the lasting vitality of works that have stood the test of time, have artistic value and influence on the hearts of music lovers of many generations in the country and internationally. Through the language of music, Part II of the program opens up a bright and vibrant space, expressing the spirit of construction and the beauty of a peaceful country.
From the emotional transition point through the work “Lullaby in the Fireworks Night”, the program takes viewers to their childhood memories through the Suite for children: “I love my school”, “The yellow-ringed bird”, “The season of blooming royal poinciana flowers”; along with melodies spanning across the country’s homelands such as: “Tay Nguyen love song”, “Sailor’s heart song”, “Singing about today’s rice plants”, “Song of the People’s Teacher”... The mashup “For today, for tomorrow, for all generations to come” is like a song of joy, praising peace, love and the eternal aspiration of the Vietnamese people.
The art program “For the Future” is directed by Major General, People’s Artist Nguyen Cong Bay, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Affairs, Director of Ho Guom Theater. The program has the participation of two children of musician Hoang Van, conductor Le Phi Phi (conductor of the music night) and Dr. Le Y Linh (writer of the program).
Participating in the performance program are People's Artist Co Huy Hung (moon lute), People's Artist Xuan Binh (mono), People's Artist Vuong Ha (poetry recitation), Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, singers Trong Tan, Dao To Loan, Thanh Le, Bui Trang, Tran Trang, Truong Linh; artists Trinh Huong (piano), Thu Huong (flute), Anh Linh (bamboo flute), Quyen Thien Dac (saxophone), Nguyen Minh Tan (accordion), Binh Son (piano), Oplus group...
Musician Hoang Van (1930 -2015) is one of the great names in Vietnamese music. He left behind a rich musical legacy, with more than 700 works including songs, choirs, film music, symphonies, instrumental music, children's music...; many of which have become cultural symbols, accompanying the country. In April 2025, his collection of works was recognized by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage.
