Tran Thuy Linh (born in 2000, from Thai Binh ) just received her PhD in international economics from the National Economics University on October 18, after 3.5 years of study and research.
Currently, the new female doctor is working at the Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies, Central Policy and Strategy Committee.
According to the National Economics University, up to now, she is also the youngest person ever to receive a doctorate degree from the National Economics University.
Previously, Thuy Linh was a former student of Thai Binh High School for the Gifted. In 2018, she was directly admitted to the International Business Administration major, Faculty of International Business, National Economics University thanks to the national excellent student award.
By 2021, she became well-known when she graduated from university a year early and became the valedictorian of the whole school with a GPA of 3.89/4.0. At the same time, she was one of 90 excellent valedictorians honored by the Hanoi People's Committee that year.
As a student, Thuy Linh also had an impressive list of achievements: Third prize for student scientific research at school level, title of 5 Good Students of the Capital, main author of 2 scientific articles within the maximum score frame of the State Council of Professors, along with many research projects, topics at ministry and school levels and reports at international conferences.
With outstanding academic and research achievements, she was given special permission to study straight for a doctorate at the age of 21, without having to go through a master's degree.

Thuy Linh has done her doctoral thesis on the topic "Factors affecting the sustainable development of textile and garment exports from Vietnam to the EU" and defended her thesis at the end of May 2025.
She said successfully defending her thesis and receiving her doctorate degree at the age of 25 was the most emotional milestone in her journey of studying and researching.
"When I started this journey, I didn't know how I would go and whether I would make it to the end. This is truly a challenging academic journey, with moments of confusion and deadlock. But my supervisor always said: It's okay, just keep going and you will get there . I believe that as long as you don't give up and keep exploring, you will eventually reach the finish line successfully," Thuy Linh said.
After completing her doctoral program, Thuy Linh said she will continue to make more efforts to produce valuable research products in the future and make even a small contribution to the community.
At the doctoral degree awarding ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, director of the National Economics University, told the 66 new doctors that a doctoral degree is not only a proof of knowledge but also a commitment to science and the community.
"The research journey has ended a difficult journey but opened a new mission: the mission of spreading knowledge, promoting creativity to contribute to the development of the country. No matter what position you are in, always keep your passion for academia, spirit of service and desire to contribute," said Mr. Nhuong.
