Thanh Hang, the small singer with "Tiny steps in life" (Tuoi Tre March 22, 2010) held a wedding with Ha Van Dong, a blind singer 14 years younger than her.

Tiny feet walk a thousand miles

The wedding was held last month in Hanoi , Hang's hometown, and tonight (December 20) at the wedding announcement ceremony with friends in Ho Chi Minh City, Hang floated in happiness in a princess wedding dress tailored specifically for her 1.24m tall body weighing just over 20kg.

14 years ago, when I met the two tiny sisters Thanh Hang and Thanh Ha in their first days in Ho Chi Minh City to become independent, I knew that the two girls were very strong. Hang is the older sister – 1.24m tall, Ha is the younger sister – 1.25m tall.

The two girls' tiny steps are nimble with office work during the day, singers at night, and in between are the busy schedules of young singers, still poor, without managers, without support crews: learning vocals, learning English, working with show producers, learning new songs, recording CDs and videos, even going to the market to buy cosmetics, buy fabric to make clothes, buy clogs, order shoes...

Their dream at that time was to practice having a stronger and thicker breath to sing three songs in one night and have 2-3 shows per week.

That was already very strong compared to two tiny girls who were only as big as first graders. And years later, I was surprised and admired when I witnessed their tiny feet walking thousands of miles.

Not stopping at singing folk songs and country music, Thanh Hang - Thanh Ha has trained her voice to sing pop music. Not stopping at children's stages and charity shows like the early days, Hang - Ha has performed many times in the US on many stages, winning the affection of overseas Vietnamese.

Not ignoring social media trends, their YouTube channels soon had songs with millions of views. And they went even further when the two girls - not stopping at being singers when they clearly understood their disadvantages on stage and officially unemployed due to the Covid-19 pandemic - entered business and transformed into entrepreneurs.

Hang - Ha has been quietly registering for short-term business courses, from free to paid, from theory to practice, playing the role of a shy student to a team leader, to a team leader.

Her small legs nimbly carry packages out to the middle of the street, in the middle of the market to sell. Wiping sweat after completing individual exercises and team challenges, she said: “At first I was shy, worried that someone would recognize me, but then I forgot that I was a singer.

In real life, I am just a worker and there is nothing wrong with selling. To maintain my image, I only choose products that I understand, use well myself, and never advertise beyond what I feel myself.

Love Glows

Having met Ha Van Dong many times when visiting Hang - Ha, the funny and talented younger brother from Hai Duong accompanied the two little girls on their tours near and far, domestically and internationally, accompanying their performances, recordings, and sales and business journeys... but I never thought that a love would arise.

With Hang and Ha, Dong has nothing to fear in the dark. He goes everywhere, quickly masters all the necessary technology, quickly masters selling both online and in shops besides his career as a lounge singer.

Dong, Hang and Ha have people to help them adjust the music, correct the songs when practicing and recording, have people to discuss business strategies, have people to help pull tables, arrange chairs... They rely on each other in life, help each other in work, have a sisterhood - friends who take care of each other, and make up for each other's shortcomings.

They told each other about their boyfriends, girlfriends and lovers, "scored" them and laughed heartily and carefreely.

And so for more than ten years, the three of them were independent, making a living, and developing themselves in Saigon. And during the days when Hang and Ha returned to Hanoi, the distance made Dong realize a love in his heart. He did not dare to say it but could not hold back, so he asked a mutual friend to suggest, saying "words of the wind" to Hang.

Hang was surprised and grateful, but then worries quickly came. She worried about the 14-year age gap between her and Dong, worried about the image of a busy wife when her single life was at its most brilliant in the image of a successful, beautiful businesswoman.

When Hang's parents heard the news, they were even more worried about Dong's dark life that Hang would have to embrace if she agreed. Would her small hands and tiny feet be able to handle it?

“I thought about it for a whole year before deciding,” Hang said, much to the surprise of her friends when they received the news. Her livestream sessions this month were Hang and Dong talking about love, scenes of Dong confidently going to the market, cooking, and helping Hang with housework in their small rented room, scenes of Hang accompanying her husband to sing every night, scenes of the first simple meal Hang cooked for her husband…

They still sell goods to make a living, still share a passion for music and now have a great love to accompany them. Family, friends and relatives are less worried and more assured about the newly formed small family.

The sweet words they say to each other every day on social media are like adding a little love to the lives of their followers to make their new day brighter.

The bride was radiantly beautiful, her eyes sparkling for both of them. The groom was mature and steady, carrying a mountain of faith on his shoulders, especially when they chose this happy day to be Dong's birthday.

Their party tonight has many people from the disabled community, people who are indeed disadvantaged in society but are so strong, so determined, so full of love that every day they give a gift to the life around them.

Hang and Ha's livestream channel quickly increased its number of followers, the consumer products and cosmetics they sold quickly "sold out", and occasionally the two girls sang a sweet song for their customers.

The first store Hang - Ha opened in her hometown Me Linh, Hanoi mobilized her sister's whole family to pack and deliver the goods on time. Agents were quickly established in the provinces. The girls also opened sales training classes in addition to their advanced courses.

Hang - Ha thought that they had stopped their tiny steps in exile and returned to their warm family in success. But no...
