To fulfill its information-providing function in the context of high-tech applications and digitalization, accounting will have to undergo fundamental and comprehensive changes, from the techniques used to process transactions to accounting methods. Industry 4.0 promises to open up many opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of the accounting profession. However, alongside these opportunities, accounting also faces a series of challenges, among which the shortage of high-quality accounting personnel is a major problem.
Assessing the current state of Vietnam's accounting workforce, many opinions suggest that the quality of accounting human resources, especially their ability to apply information technology, is a major obstacle to accounting's access to digital technology . Furthermore, although accounting training has received attention, it has not truly met practical demands, particularly in areas such as high technology, information security, and artificial intelligence.

To seize the opportunities offered by the Industry 4.0 revolution, students pursuing accounting careers today need to be equipped with knowledge of digital technology, database management, and many new skills. Saigon International University (SIU) has developed and officially launched an Accounting program with specializations in Accounting and Auditing, and Corporate Accounting, providing a foundation of in-depth knowledge and skills to help students develop themselves and easily adapt to the 4.0 era.
In addition to focusing on training in specialized knowledge, application skills in science and technology, and proficiency in using specialized accounting software, SIU also trains students to adapt to the business environment and perform accounting work effectively in business units and public service units in the economy .
To provide students with practical experience during their studies, the school plans to invite leading experts and businesses to share their real-world experiences; organize professional events and seminars; and develop specialized clubs, academic competitions, and research programs to help students hone their knowledge, unlock their potential, and develop essential professional skills. The school's strength also lies in its fully funded international IT skills and English language training programs, providing students with a solid foundation of soft skills to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the accounting industry today.

SIU is the first and only university in Vietnam, and one of the few in Asia, to achieve international accreditation for its Business program by IACBE - USA. The university has also achieved institutional accreditation and, most recently, accreditation for its English Language and Computer Science programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In 2021, SIU offered 20 undergraduate majors, including: International Economic Law, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Networks and Communications, Information Security, Management Information Systems, Digital Media Design, Business Administration, International Trade, Foreign Economics, Tourism Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Marketing, E-commerce, English for Teaching, Business English, Accounting and Auditing, Corporate Accounting, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and Psychology. The university applied four admission methods: admission based on 12th-grade academic transcripts, admission based on academic transcripts from five semesters (two semesters in 10th grade, two semesters in 11th grade, and the first semester of 12th grade), admission based on the results of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test.
