Opportunity to promote tourism, culture and cuisine of Hau Giang

In the series of events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the province's establishment, Hau Giang Province Tourism and Culinary Culture Week 2023 is an anticipated event, which will be an opportunity for Hau Giang to introduce and promote its image to tourists near and far.

Hau Giang cuisine promises to reach new heights from this event.

Desire to promote and reach far

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, shared: “With the desire to promote the cultural, historical values, natural resources associated with local specialties and cuisine, creating opportunities for the image of Hau Giang to reach new heights, the Tourism and Culinary Culture Week is organized as a joy for those working in culture and tourism. The event is included in the series of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the province's establishment. We have researched a number of localities in the region that organize similar events to promote culture and tourism and have refined, associated with the potential and advantages of Hau Giang, to build a plan to organize this event”.

The event is at the provincial level and expanded to invite provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City, Southeast, Central Highlands, Northwest... depending on actual conditions.

Never before has Hau Giang tourism been given such attention and investment and opened up so many opportunities for development as it is today. The attention of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee is demonstrated by policies, resolutions and plans that are suitable for the province's development. Tourism has become one of the four pillars for investment and development. From a province that has not yet appeared on the tourism map, Hau Giang is gradually investing in completing infrastructure, exploiting potentials and advantages, developing tourism products; providing people with knowledge about tourism, doing tourism and encouraging and supporting them to participate in building tourism products.

Some products have gradually taken shape from the investment of the people, such as Ngoc Dao Goat Milk Farm, Muong Dinh Homestay (Chau Thanh A), Bamboo Garden, Spring Tourist Area (Phung Hiep), Miet Vuon Homestay, Thien An Strawberry Garden (Nga Bay)...; new tourist attractions are gradually being completed, expected to be put into operation at the end of this year such as Lam Tuyen Tourist Area (Vi Thanh city)...

The draft plan for this series of events, when read through, is truly impressive and dedicated. The picture of tourism associated with culture and cuisine is shown through outstanding and impressive activities. From the main theme of the proposed series of activities, "Melody of the Rivers", in addition to the grand opening and closing program summarizing the event, more than 10 activities all have their own names, especially impressive, showing the unique features of culture, tourism, and cuisine of Hau Giang land. Resilient in the resistance war against invaders, the people of the river region are now striving to rise up, enriching themselves and their families, contributing to Hau Giang's step-by-step breakthrough development.

“Hau Giang Cultural and Tourism Space, Hau Giang Rural Market Space”, “Hau Giang and other regions’ culinary space” are places for everyone to join in artistic exchange activities, storytelling, painting; enjoy the countryside market scene with agricultural products on display, enjoy delicious dishes of Hau Giang and the Mekong Delta to feel the unique features that create its own attraction...

In addition, there is a seminar on the role of cuisine in Hau Giang and the Mekong Delta in tourism development, highlighting the role of cuisine to create differences and unique features to attract tourists; Hau Giang delicious food contest, setting a Vietnamese record for the most presented island dishes, which are two playgrounds for professional and non-professional chefs, individuals passionate about cuisine inside and outside the province.

In addition, there is also an art exchange program between provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, organizing river scenes, street parades, flashmob dancing... with the participation of many people in Vi Thanh and tourists in Hau Giang during the days of these activities.

This time, it is expected that many press agencies and travel businesses will participate, so Hau Giang will also organize a famtrip and presstrip to introduce interesting destinations of Hau Giang, with the hope that after the series of events, Hau Giang tourism will be mentioned more and will appear on the map of Vietnam tourism.

This is the aspiration to rise up, exploit potentials, strengths, and invest comprehensively with the determination to bring the smokeless industry to new heights. The event is expected to take place from December 29, 2023 to January 2, 2024, in Vi Thanh city.
