Entering the afternoon session, the market remained red until the end of the session. Closing, VN-Index decreased 16.26 points (-0.96%) to 1,669.57 points; VN30-Index decreased 24.58 points (-1.26%) to 1,925.18 points.

Market breadth was tilted to the downside with 175 stocks declining and 148 stocks increasing. In the VN30 basket, the number of stocks increasing and decreasing in price was 9 and 20 respectively.

The banking group was under strong profit-taking pressure after yesterday's increase, causing the market to lack support. At the same time, some Vingroup stocks continued to decline; in which VIC decreased by 3.73%, taking the most points from the VN-Index with 6.74 points; VRE and VPB respectively decreased by 0.67 and 0.68 points. Banking codes such as LPB, VPB, TCB, MBB also had a negative impact.

Stocks were also under selling pressure, causing many codes to fall in price, with VIX hitting the floor and being among the codes that took away the most points.

The industry groups with the most declines were the ones that did not see a decrease of 2%. On the other hand, the hardware, equipment and telecommunications services group had the most outstanding performance.

Liquidity was low with nearly VND24,000 billion changed hands. Foreign investors were net sellers with a purchase value of nearly VND2,435 billion and a sale value of over VND3,588 billion.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the total transaction value reached more than VND 1,800 billion. At the end of the session, the HNX-Index stopped at 266.96 points, down 1.08 points (-0.4%); the HNX30-Index was at 578.42 points after falling 2.99 points (-0.51%).
