If we count the 4 individual and women's team championships in rapid and blitz chess in traditional chess and the 2 women's team championships in rapid and blitz chess in standard chess, Ho Chi Minh City is completely superior to all other delegations at the tournament.

The most interesting event for fans was the standard chess event in both men's and women's categories. After "only" finishing second in the rapid and blitz chess events, Nguyen Hoang Yen threw herself into the standard chess event and remained undefeated after 9 games, earning an almost perfect score of 8 points with only two draws for Ho Thi Thanh Hong (Binh Dinh) and teammate Dam Thi Thuy Dung.
In April 2024, Nguyen Hoang Yen achieved the feat of winning the national championship for 3 consecutive years and for the fifth time in 8 years, she firmly held the No. 1 position for Vietnamese women in Chinese chess (2016, 2017 and 2022, 2023, 2024). She had almost no opponents in the standard chess event while also competing very well in both rapid and blitz chess events.
Although international grandmaster Dam Thi Thuy Dung did not complete her goal of winning a hat-trick of individual gold medals, thanks to the additional gold medal in the standard chess team with Hoang Yen, this female player still won a total of 5 gold medals, becoming the most successful player at this year's tournament.
