The animal currently lives on a farm in Brazil and is considered a "super cow". It was once auctioned and fetched a value of 4 million USD (101 billion VND), making it the most expensive cow in the world today.
As one of the countries with the most cattle farms in the world, Brazil currently has hundreds of millions of cows, but there is one very special one.
The animal now has its own bodyguard and veterinarian.
The animal, coded Viatina-19 FIV Mara Movéis, commonly referred to as Viatina-19, has a large body, snow-white skin, and is monitored daily by security cameras. The animal even has its own veterinarian and bodyguard.
According to information from Guinness World Records, Viatina-19 was once auctioned. Its current value is up to 4 million USD (more than 101 billion VND) and has become the most expensive cow in the world.
Along the highway that runs through the route to the farm in Uberaba, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Viatina-19’s owners have erected two billboards praising the cow. This has attracted other farm owners, locals, and busloads of veterinary students to come and see the “super cow”.
Climate experts have repeatedly argued that humans should consume less beef, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and a major cause of deforestation in the Amazon.
But cattle farming is now Brazil’s main economic driver. And the embodiment of the country’s cattle ambitions is Viatina-19, the product of years of efforts to breed cows that produce more meat.
"We don't slaughter elite cattle, we just breed them," the farm owner revealed.
Veterinarian Lorrany Martins explains that Viatina-19 cows are expensive because they have fast muscle growth, fertility and, importantly, the frequency of passing on good genes to their offspring.
"This is the most nearly perfect cow ever, with characteristics that many ranchers want to hunt for. That's why it has the highest price today," said veterinarian Martins.
It is known that breeders who want to access the eggs of Viatina-19 cows will have to pay about 250,000 USD (6.3 billion VND).
