Ho Chi Minh City Police reorganize, reduce from 55 to 33 focal points

Kinhtedothi - This morning (March 1), Ho Chi Minh City Police held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Minister of Public Security on the arrangement and streamlining of the organization and apparatus of the City Police to operate effectively and meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

Attending the ceremony were Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

Implementing Project No. 25 dated January 11, 2025 of the Central Party Committee of Public Security on "Continuing to arrange and streamline the organization of the local Public Security apparatus to operate effectively and efficiently, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new period", up to now, Ho Chi Minh City Public Security has basically completed the work of rearranging the organization, apparatus, and arranging staff.

Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, emphasized that it is necessary to understand that "not organizing district-level police" does not reduce functions, tasks, and staffing, but essentially reduces intermediate levels; the tasks of the district-level police force will be transferred to department-level units and commune-level police to continue to perform. The City Police has basically completed the statistics of the current status of work, facilities, equipment, weapons, etc. and can immediately hand over and receive, ensuring normal and smooth operations of the entire City Police force when implementing the new organizational model and apparatus.

Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam handed over decisions on the transfer and appointment of new heads of professional departments.

According to Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, in order to effectively and qualitatively carry out tasks under the new organizational model, the entire City Police force, especially the Party Committees and commanders at all levels, must promote the highest sense of responsibility, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, innovate and be creative; act resolutely for the common good, be ready to sacrifice personal interests; overcome difficulties and challenges, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the People; promptly detect and immediately resolve difficulties and new problems arising in practical work.

Major General Mai Hoang, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, presented the decision to appoint Deputy Head of the Investigation Security Agency and Deputy Head of the Investigation Police Agency.

Starting from March 1, along with the local police across the country, Ho Chi Minh City Police officially has a new organizational model and apparatus; no district-level police are organized. Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City Police has reduced from 55 focal points to 33 focal points, of which 246 team-level units have been reduced. At the same time, a number of tasks have been received from departments and branches and officially put into operation.

In the coming time, the City Police will continue to urgently review, arrange and assign staff to ensure improved effectiveness and efficiency in performing the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People.

At the conference, the Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police announced and handed over decisions on personnel work of the City Police. In particular, the City Police urgently reviewed and implemented procedures and processes for reporting and seeking opinions, and received approval from the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, signing the Decisions on the appointment of Deputy Head of the Security Investigation Agency and Deputy Head of the Police Investigation Agency - Ho Chi Minh City Police.
