According to Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ): For a long time, localities often had to wait for the Ministry of Education and Training to finalize the high school graduation exam schedule, from which they could plan to organize admission to grade 10 accordingly. However, 2025 is the time when the first batch of students under the new general education program will take the high school graduation exam, so in order to be proactive in organizing admission to grade 10, many localities have requested the Ministry of Education and Training to announce the high school graduation exam schedule early. Therefore, this year, this time is announced in the school year schedule.
“Announcing the high school graduation exam schedule before the new school year begins has three major implications. First, it closes the high school year plan without having to wait for the Ministry of Education and Training’s high school graduation exam guidelines. Second, localities can proactively plan the school year, especially the admission plan for grade 10 high school, ensuring the time frame and not overlapping with the high school graduation exam schedule. Third, schools, teachers, and students can be more proactive in planning the teaching and learning plan for grade 12 to ensure quality,” said Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Principal of Cat Ba High School (Cat Hai, Hai Phong) commented: The Ministry of Education and Training's early planning of the high school graduation exam schedule will help schools be more convenient and proactive in buildingeducational programs, especially in preparing for the 2025 high school graduation exam, the first year of implementing the 2+2 exam plan.
“2025 is a challenging year for teachers and students as there are many innovations in the way of making exam questions, questions, and materials (Literature subject does not use textbook materials...). The school is focusing on organizing professional activities in groups; discussing and practicing the construction of matrices, specifications, exam questions, and review content according to the new format of the exam,” said Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh, teacher at Giao Thuy High School ( Nam Dinh ), assessed that this year, the Ministry of Education and Training released the high school graduation exam schedule right from the beginning of the school year, creating initiative for localities, schools, students and parents.
This new approach also helps localities to be proactive and convenient in organizing the 10th grade entrance exam appropriately, without affecting the high school graduation exam conducted nationwide, overcoming the passive limitation of time when preparing for 2 exams in parallel.
According to Ms. Thuy Anh, if the announcement is made early, schools will proactively arrange the main curriculum and review schedule in a harmonious manner, without putting pressure on students. In addition, Ms. Thuy Anh also expressed her hope that the Ministry of Education and Training will soon issue a document guiding the contents related to the 2025 High School Graduation Exam so that localities and schools can prepare best.
Expressing her joy when the Ministry of Education and Training announced the high school graduation exam schedule early, student Nguyen Thu Ha (Cau Giay High School, Hanoi) said: We are the first group to take the high school graduation exam according to the new program. Therefore, this early announcement will help both teachers and students to have early orientation, arrange teaching time, review, and consolidate knowledge for students in accordance with reality. Accordingly, students will have time to change their approach to knowledge and skills according to the new program; at the same time, increase practice in the form of questions according to the sample structure and format of the high school graduation exam from 2025. "If the announcement is late, it may lead to the possibility of arranging to finish teaching the main curriculum early to focus on review. This puts pressure on both students and teachers," Ha shared.
According to the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework just approved by the Ministry of Education and Training. The Ministry of Education and Training issued that the 2025 High School Graduation Exam is expected to take place on June 26-27, 2025. From 2025, candidates will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology)./.
