According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the evening of August 16, the low pressure area in the sea south of Hoang Sa special zone strengthened into a tropical depression.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 5630/CD-BNNMT dated August 16, 2025 of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment on responding to natural disasters in the East Sea, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of coastal communes and wards, localities with fishing activities, Departments, branches and related units to urgently implement a number of contents.
Specifically, localities and units closely monitor the developments of natural disasters; strictly manage vessels going out to sea; notify owners of vessels and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of natural disasters to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.
Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when a situation occurs.
Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio - Television, Thanh Hoa Coastal Information Station and grassroots information systems increase information on the developments of natural disasters to authorities at all levels, owners of vehicles operating at sea and people to proactively prevent and respond.
The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and promptly informs about the developments of natural disasters to proactively deploy response measures.
Departments, branches and sectors, according to their state management functions and tasks and assigned tasks, proactively direct and coordinate with localities to respond to natural disasters.
Organize on-duty seriously, regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense, Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 a.m. on August 17 , the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.7 degrees North latitude; 112.3 degrees East longitude. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting to level 8; moving northwest at a speed of about 10 km/h. Forecast until 1:00 a.m. on August 18 , the low pressure area will move northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h; located at 19.1 degrees north latitude, 110.1 degrees east longitude, on the mainland east of Hainan Island (China). Intensity level 6-7, gust level 9. Dangerous area 15.5-21.0 degrees north latitude; 109.0-113.5 degrees east longitude. |
