The Arab-American community said it would not support incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the race for the White House.

In a statement, the Arab American Political Action Committee, a group of Arab American intellectuals who work to protect Arab interests in the United States and around the world, explained that both Harris, the Democratic nominee, and Trump, the Republican nominee, support Israel in its conflicts with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The group has long called on the US government to take concrete action to end these conflicts. If that happens, the November 5 US presidential election will mark the first time the group has not endorsed a candidate since its founding in 1998. The group has traditionally supported the Democratic Party. Recent polls show a tight race between Harris and Trump. Arab and Muslim Americans were one of the strongest bases of support for Joe Biden in the 2020 White House race. However, their support for the Democratic Party has been waning since the group voiced opposition to US support for Israel in the Gaza conflict and called on President Biden to work with world leaders to push for a ceasefire in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, support among Arab Americans for Trump has been consistently low, largely due to his statements and policies during his time in office regarding the travel ban on citizens of several Muslim-majority countries. In addition, Trump has also voiced support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
