Tam Dao Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd.: Proactive measures to provide water for spring-summer crop

In the 2024 winter-spring crop, Tam Dao Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. was assigned to provide irrigation water for 5,168.4 hectares of cultivated area including rice seedling area of 18 communes in 3 districts of Tam Dao, Binh Xuyen, Tam Duong and Tam Dao Farm, of which irrigation by dam accounts for 3,228.3 hectares; irrigation by pumping station accounts for 1,426.5 hectares; irrigation by temporary dam and dyke accounts for 513.49 hectares.

According to the company's water resources summary report as of January 24, 2024, the water level on the 7 large reservoirs only reached a capacity of more than 27 million m3, reaching 74.48% of the design capacity. Small and medium-sized reservoirs reached 1.61 million m3/2.75 million m3, reaching 58.55%.

Specifically, Lang Ha Lake reached 64.70%, Gia Khau reached 67.82%, Vinh Thanh 79.44%, Xa Huong 78.08%, Thanh Lanh 76.31%. The water level on Ban Long Lake and Dong Mo Lake by the end of January 2024 reached 64.86% of the design capacity. The biggest difficulty for the company is more than 206 hectares of cultivated land in Dao Tru and Dai Dinh communes. Specifically, Dai Dinh has 200 hectares and Dao Tru has 6 hectares due to complete dependence on natural spring water.

In order to have enough water and timely supply for the 2024 spring-summer crop, right from the end of the 2023 winter-spring crop, Tam Dao Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee, coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tam Dao, Binh Xuyen and Tam Duong districts to develop a plan to reserve and manage water saving in ponds, lakes and rivers in the system; maintain and repair electric pumps; increase oil pumps; install additional field pumps at high points with difficult water supply; dredge and clear dam gates; water channels, sluice gates, key pumping stations, repair and upgrade the water channel system...

Specifically, by January 10, Ha village enterprise led water into Doc Chuoi lake to reach the design elevation, taking advantage of the water that is recycled and stored in fields and canals in Kim Long, Huong Dao, Tam Quan communes, Dai Dinh town; Vinh Thanh enterprise focused on leading water to San Keng lake in Yen Duong commune to reach the elevation of +54.50 to ensure enough water for planting in the main crop...

To overcome difficulties in irrigation water sources, especially in sloping fields far from water sources in local communes such as Dai Dinh town, Tam Quan commune, Dao Tru (Tam Dao), Thien Ke, Huong Son (Binh Xuyen), the Company has actively promoted and mobilized people to save water resources and store water in small ponds and streams.

Installed 29 fixed electric pumps, 2 fixed oil pumps, 11 field pumps in locations with difficult water conditions, and increased human resources in irrigation areas with difficult water conditions in localities such as Dai Dinh town; Dao Tru commune (Tam Dao); Kim Long, Huong Dao, Hoang Hoa (Tam Duong); Huong Son, Thien Ke, Ba Hien (Binh Xuyen). In addition, the Company mobilized people in communes with difficulties in water supply to drill wells to combat drought if the drought persists.

Along with proactively storing water resources in ponds, rivers, streams, and reservoirs, the company also prepares diesel engines and field electric pumps ready to pump water for planting and rice care in case of drought.

Actively coordinate with the Party Committees and authorities of communes, urge grassroots irrigation organizations, coordinate with agricultural service cooperatives to mobilize members to clear waste and animal carcasses in the canals and ditches in the fields; launch the emulation movement "Each cadre and employee in the company is a good worker" with 100% of employees registering to participate. By January 25, Tam Dao Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. had supplied water to 2,460 hectares of watered area and had planted 2,350 hectares, reaching 50% of sowing; the lowland planting area alone reached 100%.

Currently, the Board of Directors of Tam Dao Irrigation Company Limited is actively directing Enterprises, irrigation stations, pumping stations, headworks, dams and weirs to propose appropriate solutions to manage and fully exploit water resources stored in rivers, streams, irrigation canals, ponds and lakes in the area.

Specifically, by February 10, each group, team and officer in charge of the area has been assigned, on duty 24/7, including holidays and days off, to strictly manage water resources; install a convenient, scientific , economical water supply organization, and provide timely and adequate water for planting according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Increase technical staff to irrigated areas, especially in basin-shaped communes of Huong Son, Thien Ke (Binh Xuyen), Huong Dao, Yen Duong, Dai Dinh town (Tam Dao)... to guide farmers in using water economically, determined to provide adequate and timely irrigation water for 100% of the planting area according to the crop schedule and water to nourish rice during the tillering period.
