The Ambassador also affirmed that Lang Son Global Geopark with its unique, typical and outstanding geological values, cultural heritage, and natural landscapes will be a valuable addition to the UNESCO Global Geoparks system.

Mr. Antonio De Sousa Abreu, Director of the Department of Ecology and Earth Sciences, said that Lang Son Geopark joining the Global Geopark community is very important because the Geopark Program's main goal is sustainable development through combining and connecting the conservation of natural resources with the development of local communities.

Expressing his satisfaction with the working attitude of the Vietnamese side, Mr. Kristof Vandenberghe, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences and Geoparks, shared: "I was very impressed when meeting and working with the people in charge of the geopark, the local community, and the experts working at this geopark. We are extremely happy and proud to welcome Lang Son to become a UNESCO geopark, becoming part of the global geopark family. You are completely deserving! I hope Vietnam will do a good job of protecting heritage combined with respecting local traditions, whether it is geological heritage or biodiversity, and working together to manage water resources."
